My comp isn't fast enough to capture DVD quality footage...can I capture it in VCD yet still burn it to a DVD?

Sure. You can capture mpeg1 (VCD) and place it on a DVD or CD, for that matter. If you want to play it on anything but a computer DVD/CD player, you will need to prepare it in Mpeg2 format. Your software may do this for you when you burn the DVD.

Yes, but the quality won't be any better than VCD (as already noted).

You have to capture in AVI, VCD is a compressed version of AVI.
