The way I've best heard it defined is that Republicans are producers, and Democrats are consumers. Republicans generally feel that people should be responsible for their own actions, and/or decisions. They feel people should pay the consequences, or reap the benefits of those action/decisions. Democrats believe that the government knows what's best for people, and that the government should make alot of the decisions for people. This way it allows people to dis-engage from the responsibility from of making decisions, thus dis-engaging from the consequences that come from making the wrong decisions.
In a nutshell, Republicans believe in small government, where it only is involved to a basic level in people lives, and business. They believe taxes should be minimal. Limited only to the specific areas that are required in order to run the part of the system that is required of government.
Democrats believe in big government, where it's involved in almost every aspect in peoples lives, and business. They believe high taxes are necessary in order for the people who have money, to take care of the people who don't have money.

This is a joke, but it kinda demonstrates the differences:

Sally came home from college and told her Republican father that she was a Democrat, and dared him to try to change her opinion. The conversation:
Father: Do you get good grades?
Sally: Yes, I study really hard. Some times, I don't have time to do anything but study. It's all worth it though, because I earned a 4.0 grade point average.

Father: How is your friend Cindy doing in school?
Sally: Oh, she's just barely getting by. She parties all the time, and never studies. She only got a 2.0 grade point average.

Father: Well why don't you give her one of your points, and then you'll both be 3.0 grade point average?
Sally: Well that wouldn't be fair. I worked hard for my grades. Cindy didn't earn a 3.0. She was out partying all the time. That wouldn't be fair at all.

Father: Welcome to the Republican Party.

That depends on who you ask. If you ask a Republican, Democrats love taxing and spending on worthless social programs while Republicans are for fiscal responsibility and National defense. If you as a Democrat, Republicans starve school children and kill the elderly while Democrats protect the underprivileged and the environment.

Republican's tend more to concentrate their efforts on expanding big business (i.e. the fortune 500 companies) to boost the U.S. economy, and using more power based negotiations in their foreign policies.

Democrats concentrate more on the America public, like programs for low income people to non-profit groups. Their foreign policy uses more diplomatic principles rather than forced authority or power in negotiations.

it is Democrat.

there is no difference. they have created a rouse that one party is better than the other, and vice-versa.

there is no better party, because they are both corrupt, greedy, power hungry bussiness men-dominated groups

they will tell you what the voters want to hear in order to get into power, and may or may not live up to their promises, depending on how much support they need to make a quick buck.
