In Love With My Best Friend???

Question

i have known my best friend for 5 years.. in college days we were thought to be a very cute pair... everyone just assumed we were going around... now after so many years my cousins and friends think i am in love with him and that he luvs me too..that friendship has developed in love. i do to sometimes.. i am not sure.. its all very confusing... once we even had this convo what if we get together and all he said was it wud be too messy.. because we fight alot... i once told him i liked him but he said we can only remain friends.. what could he mean?? because the way he behaves with me, talks to me, says otherwise. he understands me completely, totally knows how to handle my moods, is so protective about me..
we share such a special bond... what should i do?? i am scared to tell him anything again what if he turns me down again.. i think i reallyreally like this guy...

IT IS VERY POSSIBLE TO B IN LOVE WITH UR BEST FRIEND , AS U SAID HE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT U & U ABOUT HIM . THE BEST RELATIONSHIPS HAVE CAME FROM LONG TERM FRIENDSHIPS , MAYBE HE IS SCARED IF THINGS DIDN'T WORK OUT HE WOULD LOOSE HIS BEST FRIEND . THE THINGS U FIGHT ABOUT SHOULD B TALKED OUT INSTEAD OF ARGUEING , TRY THAT FIRST & C WHERE IT GOES FROM THERE .

Well i do not exactly know what to tell you but i have been through the same thing. What happened was we were good friends for about 3-4 year i don't remember now, but one day we started acting like we were dating and soon he asked me out, after i told him how i felt. however it didn't work out. It might have been we kinda got in a lot more fights and started drifting away. It could have worked but we just didn't try very hard. So my point with that story was with someone who is like your best friend well it starts out great you really do love each other, sometimes it really works, but a lot of time i have seen that either they realized they just really do only love each other as friends or they drift apart or fight more. most of the best friend type relationships I have seen ended pretty bad, not all but most. If he is telling you he just wants to be friends you can give him some time maybe he will come around. You can also (if you feel comfortable enough) ask him why he only wants to stay friends. but my best guess is if you are really good friends he may just not want to ruin the friendship by having a bad romantic relationship.

Well, friendship can develop to love if u know that guy/girl for a long time. I don't think it should be a big problem. Just tell again with more feeling or go with the flo.

My advice, wait for him to make the first move. What's worse, being premature and pouring your heart out to him and making him run away and lose your friendship... or wait it out, in agony maybe, but keep your friendship and be patient? If it's meant to be, and he feels the same way, he will probably feel like you and not be able to stay silent about it. If I were you I'd be more scared of pushing him away and losing such a great relationship.

I had the same situation with you. But I messed it, I left her because I thought it would be better for me to leave her because I thought I couldn't stand seeing her with another guy. I was wrong, well probably just ok but not the wisest step to take. You should follow the first response of this question. Just hang in there! Follow the stream, and let love guides you wherever it wants. Just don't push it too hard (like I did), play with it and enjoy it.

If I had the same problem [which I do] I would feel akward around him but at the same time exited from what hes gonna say to me. So in my opinion is to act like nothing is wrong and that you like him as a friend, ONLY. And then when the time is right, you make your move. Like talking about mushy stuff and those kind of blahs.

Look at it this way. You're through college right? How old are you? 20's?

Do you get my point? I'll spell it out for you: you're too old to be having male friends, they will only chase other guys away which isn't good if you want to get married.

So you'll get burned, whatever. If he hasn't came up to you in 5yrs, there's a good chance he's not going to. Guys usually mean what they say.

When you approach him, you will almost definately get burned, but that's ok because you need to be moving on to seeing other guys and having another guy on your mind won't help. Guys don't like it when they meet a girl with unresolved issues.

The point is, get it out there, take your chances, move on with your life. Get it over with.

If you don't it's only going to be harder to forget about him, and that will screw up your chances with other guys. Be honest.

i really really liked this girl once to go out there and tell some one your feelings its scarey really scarey

k i went thru same things if u told him and he said no to it thrn dont push it let it be or it could ruin ur friendship and most likely he wasnt ready or he jus hasnt relized it cause anyone can end up liking someone even if u were but ugly i would know i can hook up anyone im like hitch soo jus play it as friends for now and wait and dont hook him up with girls even if hes really down cause it can ruin any chance u have with him

tell him again because trust me i saw that love from your writing if he turns you down again let him find out hes inlove with you by punishing him ingnore him for 2 weeks or so
