He was convicted by a jury of his peers.
The Police, FBI etc, would not go to lengths to catch someone and sent him for trial, if they had a doubt.
One thing you must remember about America, is that its' ability to investigate and catch criminals is matchless. With the use of forensic technology, this ability rises. There are some elements in an investigation. that points clearly to the guilt of just that one person and no one else that convinces investigators.
The problem that usualy happens is in the court process as opposed to the police process. Cases get bogged down by delays, skillful lawyers raise possible doubt which juries then mistake for reasonable doubt and acquit criminals. Judges don't become consistent in sentencing, where leniency gives criminals chance to threaten society upon release.
In Peterson's case, everything went without a hitch and he was arrested, charged and convicted. He is as guilty as day follows night. Accordingly, he deserves capital punishment. That sentence is correct.
However, he does not appear as a career criminal, just a few wrong turns in life, set him on a path of no return. We all do this (take wrong turns) but thankfully refrain from violent crime.
He should be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibilty of parole, or made to serve at least 40 years, before being so considered. The only flaw in this, is that: years after the crime passed, parole boards change, views change, Governors change and all these factors sometimes combine to set free a criminal far too early. Such release can trigger a return to crime, if the person is not fully rehabilitated.
Until someone can guarantee Peterson would be incarcerated until old age, then in an imperfect world, the penalty for his crime must remain, death.

At this point it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, he's been convicted, right? But, yes I think he did it from the Bill Kurtis T.V. show on A and E. The evidence of his "fishing" the day she disappeared near the spot where they found her body was enough. I can't remember the girlfriend's name, but the tapes she made were pretty damning. I'm at odds with capital punishment, it's a cost to keep alive on the taxpayers nickel vs. the quick high cost of the injection after what 10 years. Either way he'll pay for any misdeeds he's ever done. A lot of inmates followed the story, and they are a much different breed of human than the rest of society. They don't like baby killers!

I dont know if he did it or not, I wasn't there. Just like O.J, I wasnt there. The only thing I can do is rely on the verdict. The court heard the evidence and found him guilty, so who am i to say he's not guilty? I wasnt there.
Same with O.J. He was found not guilty, and everyone screamed bloody murder (literally). How do they know? They weren't there. The jury heard evidence and let him walk. Either the system works or it doesnt work. Justice is blind and we as americans, what can we do? ***** everytime we disagree? What good will that do? I say we have the best system in the world, like it or not. Innocent until proven guilty. Peterson was proven guilty, so there you have it.

It sounds like he is guilty.
I don't think the concept of "deserving" death is a real thing. It's something we make up to describe how we feel when we want somebody to die. But we're all gonna die. Anyway, who knows if it's even a punishment? Maybe death is great.

I wish he wasn't, but I'm afraid he is.
As to the death penalty, no I don't think he deserves that, but it may be preferable to 40 years in prison for him.

Judge not lest ye be judged.
The bible may say Eye for eye but,it says to kill is wrong.
I could not judge another and if I did I would have NO authority to take his life because I am not GOD.
