My system is getting hanged even i work or not. nothing is working. after restarting also may be within 15 to 20 mins it will hang again. I have tried with different operating systems but invain.
my system specifications are p II 233 mhz, soyo motherboard, two 32mb rams and one 64 mb ram. 20 gb samsung hardisk, cirrus logic graphics adapter, creative sound card. And my processor is slot type not socket type. it has two ps/2 ports, one is for key board and other one for mouse. But mouse port is not working as it is broken. I am using serial mouse. cmos battery is also not working. The above said problem is there with and without that battery. so i removed battery. i checked all the components like mouse, processor, harddisk, ram, graphics adapter. I didn't noticed any beep sounds also. Please help me solving this problem.

Time to scrap that junk out dude! This is the 21st century! That unit came out just a little after the abacus! Seriously though, you need to replace the cmos battery. Everytime you shut down your bios looses data that would normally be saved. That is what the cmos battery is for.

Your system is getting a little old to say the least, but there are a number of things you can do. What OS are you running? How much free space do you have on HD. The first thing i'd do is run the defrag. I'm sure the HD is fragmented and running the defrag can really help. Next take a look at your freespace you'll know how much you have when you run the defrag. If you're low on HD space, free some up, delete old programs, remove tmp files. Then run the defrag again. Also download and run this program
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ It will find any spyware running, which can really slow down your computer and can make it freeze.

You need to check if the cooling fan of your processor is working. Did you try blowing out all the dust from the system?
Remove all cards and drives and clean. Clean the contacts of your RAM modules with a pencil eraser.

Replace your CMOS battery and try loading Fail-Safe Defaults.
You also need to check your hard drive for bad sectors.
Remove older memory modules, keeping only the newer ones and see if there is any difference.

Good Luck!

Many people have given you bad advice.

It is possible that you have a virus, but you said that you tried different operating systems and that indicates that you repartitioned and reformatted the drive, and that would eliminate all except certain boot sector viruses; therefore I'm leaning towards believing that your problem is electronic in nature. It's quite possible that your power supply is becoming unstable, or any of several controller chips is on the way out. Sorry; unless you know how to repair and replace circuit board components you are out of luck.

You can install Windows 95 or Windows 98. Try removing the RAM and install it again. It must produce a beep! Install a new battery for you BIOS. Format your hard drive, install a OS. If it hangs again after 15 minutes, the problem may be either your hard disk or your video card.

if possible get a better computer otherwise upgrade your current computer get the fastest cpu and most ram your motherboard can handle also run defrag and quit memory hogging programs (at least when you dont need them) also if your hdd is pretty full compact everything and delete un needed files finally set your virtual memory to the max and run anti-spyware/adware/virus scans i recomend avg free spybot search and destroy ad-aware and windows defender (all free!)

If you're on Windows, type "msconfig" in the "Run" dialogue. Then check mark on "Diagnostic Startup". This must solve the problem.

sounds like your machine is ready to give up on you.... but before you throw out your machine, assess what the applications you are currently using.

If your applications require higher hardware power, no way out but to upgrade.

Otherwise, you can try free diagnostic tools
