Cali is nice and all - but if you are in the Los Angeles, San Diego, or San Fransisco areas it is VERY expensive to live here. Yes, the scenery is nice and there are cool things to see, but it's more vacation material. The traffic here is HORRID!!!! A 15min drive takes you about 45min to an hour and thats not during rush hour.
Cali is great to visit, but to live it's not all that. I moved from the east coast to cali about 9yrs ago and I miss the east coast quite a bit.
On the other hand - it is gorgeous here, the beaches are superb, the weather is temperate and nice, and yes you do see movie stars pretty frequently. There are some nice points, but for all the nice points there are very, very annoying points - like traffic, smog, etc.
If I was you I would stay with the good paying job in Missouri. A crap job that doesn't pay much isn't going to do much for you if you move to Cali where everything is quite pricey.

Do you like your Job? If you do stay there. California is a great place IF you can afford to live there .I just moved from the Bay area because all I could afford was a tiny condo in a bad neighborhood. Now I have a nice home with a huge yard. Not two 10x8 foot slabs of concrete for a yard. Be a tourist, see the sights, look at what it is going to cost you to live out there. And if you can afford it move ,if not , you will always ave the memories of California Dude.

There are two sides to this. Having stayed in both states I can tell you its a lot different in california. For starters its very expensive
An apartment in a good location in St. Louis Missouri that costs about 600 will cost about 1200 in San Diego California in a good suburb

Next the cost of fuel is higher in California. Try GasBuddy.com for quick comparisons on gas prices in both states. Try some places of California like San diego, San Fransisco etc

I believe even the taxes are higher (you need to check for that though

better weather is one of the better factors of california otherwise financially if you have the same job with the same pay packet then Missouri is better

As a fellow Missourian - you may very well want to look at the economics of the situation. It may not be as exciting out here but the cost of living is a lot cheaper.
