I got to know that there is a duplicate eBay and when you purchase things online through original eBay your credit card details automatically go to the duplicate site owners (illegal hackers). That's how they have created this duplicate eBay to hack the information.

Is this true?

It doesn't quite work like that. Ebay is pretty safe, I don't know of it being hacked. Not only that, but you usually don't give your credit card info to ebay, you give it to paypal.com (an e bay company). Anyway, there is a scam out there, it's considered "phishing". I've received several of these "phishing" e mails claming to be from my bank, ebay, my ISP whoever. It says something along the lines of "you owe money" or "your credit card has expired" There's a link that takes you to a fake website. I got one that claimed it was ebay, and they wanted updated card info. I knew it was a scam, but i wanted to check it out. The ebay replica was pretty accurate, and the web address wouldn't tip off the average computer user.
Anyway, yes there are fake sites out there, usually just mock ups from "phishers" My advice is to not give out your credit card unless you have typed in the web addy yourself and know what it is.

I don't think so. I use e-bay all the time, and I have yet to have my credit card hacked into. I do know though, if you get an e-mail from paypal saying that something has changed on your account and to verify if it's true by following the links...don't do it! That is a scam.

doubt it caus eyou don't pay ebay you pay your seller and usually you use paypal or a money order to pay them.

Any "scam" sight looks like the orginal at first, you hav eto pay attention to the address bar. Like amazon, I keep getting e-mails telling me to log in to fix my order, the log in page looked exactly the same but ifyou enter you info there it would go to whom ever wanted the info. Lots of times the scam sight expired before you got to it.

I don't trust the REAL ebay with my creidt card and I hate that they want your bank account info too. It didn't use to be like that at all.

I long for the old ebay (pre enron) and the old paypal they were less fee greddy back then.
