This may look a simple question. But this is the crux of HINDU philosophy. KNOW THYSELF
It is the principle of third eye. Look inwardly. Meditate Concentrate.on your breathing in and out. Ask question WHO AM I. Wherfrom I have come. After death where do I go. What is it that is missing between a live body and a dead body. In my body where is that thing hiding which when it exits I too am called a dead person.

MIRROR It is a reflection of wisdom for a man to see his grey hairs and a tragedy for a woman.to know she has become aged. You expected only this type of answer I hope. Sorry to disappoint you.
If you can find answers to these questions you would have seen yourself. It is a god given gift to humans to think over this but none of us realise our souls but die like all other animals just taking birth , pro/re-creation, drink enjoy and die to get birth again and again.
SEE FOR THYSELF SEE THYSELF

I am not who I see in the mirror. I am not who others see. I am not who is captured on film. I am not who is recorded digitally.

I am what I believe. I am what I have achieved. I am what so many think of me, and more so what I think of myself. I am the name I have created for the 31 years I that I have been able to build. I am my thoughts, alone at night, quiet, disposable, never content, always aching to learn.

In this way, I see myself with the inner eyes of consciousness. I see myself without the walls I have built to protect my insecurities. I see naked self strolling through my head. I think I need to lose some weight.

Literally? A mirror or webcam works well. Spiritually, you have to look inside your heart and investigate your successes and failures. Don't dwell on the failures, just learn from them. All will be forgiven if you only believe.

By looking yourself from these three different views/perspectives, thus;

1. What you think you are.
2. What you think others think you are.
3. What others really think you are.

Only when you look at these three different perspectives can you see the real you.

Hope I answered your question

Only when I pop my eyes out of my head. Otherwise, I look in the pond.

You can't. You can only hope your "friends" are honest enough to tell you the truth and you are strong enough to listen to them and still be friends.
