As long as it's a brushless car wash.
I wouldn't let any of those commercial car wash brushes touch any paint on a car. Will scratch a clear coat finish or any other paint.
Better to hand wash and shami down yourself.

The only disadvantage would be if you used one that had brushes. Just make sure it is a "brush-less" car wash. Use the wash that has a wax included and wash away anytime you feel like it. As far as the engine compartment just have the car wash detail it whenever it gets pretty soiled. On my 2004 SLK I had it done once a year. On my 2006 I have not done it yet.

Of course you can. Every other day? Why would you want to wash your car that often? Can't imagine your car getting that dirty so soon. Cleaning your engine is good idea, and I'd recommend once every 6 months. Don't ever use a steamer though because it can put moisture in your electrical connections and cause rust to form. Just use Gunk Engine Brite and water from your garden hose with medium to low pressure.

Wow, what a question ok... So how often does your vehicle look dirty to you? How much extra money do you have to make the vehicle look like you wanted as often as you wanted? Do you have access to your own garage/driveway/waterhose? I would wash the car myself, and I would never let anyone besides who I absolutley wanted in the vehicle period. Eliminating the 6 guys jumping in and wiping my car down inside with their sweaty arms everywhere. I would never let it be machined washed.. and the engine cleaning part is super-easy.. Wipe it down yourself when ever it looks dirty... you should even be able to just wash it with the waterhose and soap and a good towel just don't drown any electrics or intakes etc...

Yeah you can do it but you will notice your paint job slowly begin to mess up. If you do go to a car wash it should be a hand wash one.

yes as long as you cool down the engine a little, this might protect your engine to have crack, as a mechanic i only wipe dirt, dust under hood every time i check oil which the good driving habit do check steering,brake/ fluid level, oil level etc. before i drive and it much cheaper than to service its regularly
