Obviously breastmilk is preferable, but I assume that you have your reasons for choosing (or maybe not choosing) formula milk. Anyway, unless your child is very very small, S-26 should only be used as a supplement feed. Nan is usually more than sufficient for a normal healthy newborn. S-26 (especially the gold) is alot stronger than normal formulas so unless your child is in desperate need of high doses of nutrition, you should only use S-26 as a supplement feed. 2 - 4 of the daily feeds could consist of S-26 with the majority of the feeds consisting of Nan.

All formulas in the United States have to be manufactured the same way- with the same nutrients, etc. There are special formulas of course for lactose intolerant babies, colic, etc. But it really doesn't pay to buy the most expensive formula because the are all the same. The taste will be different, you'll just need to try out a few and see what your baby likes.

my daughter has just turned 1. She was on NAN h.a till recently because we have a history of asthma. She got asthma now in anyhow so they said we can change to normal NAN. I do think it helped delay it though. Wouldn't put my child on anything else.

I tried the regular Enfamil with iron but it made my son throw up. So I switched him to Prosobee. I wanted to try the Similac brand of soy formula but it gave my son horrible diarrhea. I looked at the ingredients and Similac used a different sugar in their formula than Enfamil. As soon as we switched back to Prosobee the diarrhea cleared up. I think what formula you use is a personal choice as well as how your baby responds to it. Each baby is different. One mother I knew used the Nestle brand.

Breast milk is the best. But if you prefer formulas, then I recommend either Similac or Enfamil. If you decide on one brand, stick with it. Don't change brands, otherwise, your baby can have some trouble digesting it. You can buy Similac or Enfamil at Costco, which is cheaper if buying somewhere else.
