Hey there!! whats the deal with heaps of the 'Canes players suddenly sporting big overgrown beards??!! Wierd question i know, but was it a superstitous thing or whats the deal? Kinda funny i think.

Playoff hockey tradition that goes back some time... no idea on its origin, but it's something I've seen for years and years. Wonder why Brindy didn't sport the bearded look... doesn't matter now as I'm a Flyers fan.

Some guys don't wear beards because they would have too much grey in their beard, and they would get teased too much. Sounds silly, but it is true. Brind'Amour and Wesley are some of the "elder statesmen" on the team who did not grow a beard for the playoffs.

Thats playoof tradition/superstition - its the "playoff beard"! The players shave once they are done for the season.

It is a superstitous thing. Some guys on new york Islanders team didnt shave and they won four games in a row. This was way back then.
I hope they shave because I cant tell who is who. I really want eric staal to shave.

part tradition and part superstition... when the playoff start most players will not shave off the beard until they win the cup or are eliminated

Yes, it is a superstitious thing. That was the first thing I said last night after they won, now you boys can shave those ugly bushy beards off!!
