I am writing an essay for a scholarship. It requires:

A statement in English from the applicant on why the applicant should receive a scholarship. (max 600 words)

I am confusing between why i should receive it and why they should give me the scho.

How do you understand this?

Should i tell them about my academic results and social activites, which would be a background for the reasons why they should give me the scho?

you should write about why you should receive it. all of your achievments should be included, and also an insight to your person. let them know (above your academic and social activities) what kind of person you are, and future ambitions you can conquer with this scholarship.

let them know that this money will do more than earn you a diploma, but will allow you to do greater things. let them know that education is a giant stepping stone to the rest of your life!

good luck!!

Why would there be a big difference? They should give you the scholarship because you deserve it. You should receive the scholarship because you best fit the bill for the sort of person they seek to give scholarships to. So you have to find out who is giving the scholarship and why and then figure out why you are the best example of the type of person the scholarship should be given to.
Needless to say, you have to come up with a unique angle that will make your essay stand out from all the other essays from people well qualified academically who have engaged in all the usual activities and have the standard hopes and dreams for the future.

"Why the applicant should receive a scholarship" = tell reasons why financial assistance given to you would be money well-spent and not a waste of resources. You should probably describe your humility in receiving these funds, and that you will not let the organization down by doing your best. You can point to a past record of your abilities as a kind of guarantee of future accomplishments... but you should also strike a thankful and humble tone in potentially accepting the organization's benificence.

well......they want to give the scholarship to the person that deserves it the most. write all your achievements and any hardships you had which made you apply for the scholarship in the first place, i mean like you must need the money right.

This is one you should look deep down and ask why you want to be part of that collage, what makes you want to study your course of choice, you need to find something so deep down the panel will see that you are honest and willing to acheive your dreams,

They can look at your academic records on you applications.

Crime and punishment -punishment equal to that of the crime. Like the fortune tellers who walk with their eyes on the back of their head Hmm. are you supposed to pick only one area to compare to today's society? If so, that would be the easiest topic.
