The use of defense mechanism differ from each individual. One uses the best mechanism that can satisfy him/her.

Numerous defense mechanisms are given out by Freud like projection, denial, regression (going back to earlier years like playing barbies, baby talk), repression, sour grapping and sweet lemoning, acting-out behavior etc.

I commonly use acting-out behavior coz I find it beneficial. At other times, I use repression.

Definitely, laughter nor denial are not the best defense!!! The best defense as far as im concern is "PEACE" and "KNOWLEDGE" that the peace acquired is sustainable and dependable! Seek the "Peace and Knowledge" that I'm talking about,.. its knocking in your heart, let Him come in!
Beware, ..many will perish because of ignorance.

"my dad used to say that laughter was the best medicine.... which is why so many of us died of tuberculosis."
-Jack Handy

thats a hard thing to answer, because it depends on what situation you're in. but, the mind has all kinds of ways of coping with different situations. its really amazing to think of how much the human mind/body can handle in different situations, and how little it takes to cripple the mind/body in other situations. we're so complex and so fragile at the same time.

Confidence. Openness. Determination.
When under attack, keep your head up.
STRENGTH is the key.

I would know - I survived the world's deadliest physcological disorder. My mind's defense to anorexia? The above.

Repression is very popular. Also when you are angry with someone, but you end up taking it out on another person. Rationalization can be key to protecting the mind.

since everyone is different.
each mind tries to what is best for itself.
the subconscious does whatever it needs to do to save or preserve itself.
many times it works and we are able to go one with our lives.
and sadly, some times it doesn't & people may need therapy to help them heal.

its done so quickly that we have to do introspection to find out how the subconscious spared us from the pain. jessica
