Does anyone have a good guess what might be the cause? Sleepyness also followed every time I ate donuts from a certain donut shop in 1968. Any ideas re the cause?

Could it be something about the level of sugar in the products that caused your blood sugar to spike and then suddenly fall, which could produce a lethargic effect?

Because you had/have diabetes and you were about to pass out from a sugar overload.
