It's a wrong assumption that people worship idols. What they are doing with the statues and representations is focusing on their deity, like looking at a picture of someone and thinking about them. So they are actually worshipping a god other than the Christian, Islamic or Hebrew god. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

As a matter of fact, it is not wrong - it is said to be wrong by the Holy Book of christianity.

Anyway, the christianity lasts for more than 2000 years, and many of the so-called prophets say it lasted for so long, because of worshiping only one God, proving that with the fact that all idolatric societies vanished (Roman empire, Greek empire etc.). However, there still are some societies that worship idols, and their cultures are much older than christianity (south-american and african tribes, far-east societies, native Australian societies, native american societies, etc.) They still exist and doing fine, don't they?

The only good idea about worshiping one God is uniting many different people with the same idea, which makes them more connected to one another. More Gods - more reasons for quarrels and fights about their capabilities.

It is wrong if you think it is. Although Christians believe in the Bible's authority on these spiritual thingies and the Bible says that it is blasphemous to make religous statues and such, that doesn't mean that the other people who worship idols are wrong. It really depends on your point of view...
And besides, what the world needs nowadays are not non-idol worshipping "Christians" who stab each other in front or behind their back. What it needs are real people who are caring and not selfish, regardless of what creed or religion they are in.
Hope I've helped.(^_^)

Worshiping idols is only wrong if your religion forbids it. In most western religions idol worship is wrong because it takes away from worship the real God.

It isn't, believe what you want.

The Christian religion, at least, is against idol worship for several reasons. The first is that is detracts from worship of God. The Second is that is suggest that the divine is related to something earthly. Finally it is also is a reminder to remove one's self from material things.

It is not wrong. God is formless, but the human mind needs a form in order to focus, have faith and belief in God, so that is why we worship a "form" of a God. It does not matter what the form is, it is still directed towards God. Every way energizes the same way under the same energy. Every way energizes the same God.

Religions have one thing in common: all the followers must not commit sins.

Does not matter if they percieved God as an icon, or several icons. When God is portrayed in many forms, it goes to show that God reacts differently to different situations and human races.

In my opinion there is only one God and he made man in his own image. How would you feel if you had a child, you raised it provided it with the essentials it needed in order to live and find happiness but at the end of the day your child praised someone else other than you? Or if you had a spouse whom youd give the world to but she would much rather hang out with her friends who dont give half of what you do. wouldnt you feel hurt? God has feelings how can someone love us but not feel some sort of pain when we disown him or choose not to acknowledge what he has done for us? Just think of how God made man in his own image and treat him with the love and respect you would want to receive.
