Should I email or call her?

Question

My girlfriend's (who lives in Japan) dad has recently been diagnosed with cancer. My girlfriend and I used to speak everyday on the phone after I came to the US for the summer (I go back to Japan in August) until she told me she rather not be in touch with me because she would feel guilty doing so while her father is sick (which I completely understand). She emailed me once, i replied and asked her if I could call her or if she could email me when it becomes fine for us to talk. I haven't heard from her since. A week later I emailed her to find out how she and her dad was doing, I haven't gotten a reply (it's been two weeks now). I'm really worried about how she's doing with the difficult time that she's going through, and I am so tempted to send her another email or to call to find out how everything's going

Hey Everyone, Thank you so much for your support. Believe it or not, I just got an email from her this morning! (That's way too big of a coincidence) I was so shocked, surprised, of course happy and to admit it a bit angry that she made me wait that long...Her father is doing better and according to the tests the cancer hasn't spread ! As much as I want to say to try to show support for her. It seems pretty obvious to me that she doesn't want you involved in her life at this point and time.

I would suggest a carefully worded email saying that you wish she would communicate with you and that you are there if she needs you and leave it at that.

I think that you should call her or send her like a care package. Like you could put different bubble baths in it and stuff and send it to her. But i would sent her a care package with a card for her father it will make her feel better!

hmmm .. dat is really sad .. but dunt worry u sound nice in talking she will reply u .. but if she doesnt then give her a call .. but try waiting 4 her online the time u use 2 before.. she will maybe show up and u get 2 talk 2 her hopefully .. try that OR make another id and see if she is online from that or not .. that way u will find out if she blocked u or somtthing else u knw ... but yes if u talk 2 her tell her its U ok.. ok Go0d Luck ! ..

If I was in your situation I would leave her an email and say you are wondering how she is doing, and you miss the sound of her voice. If she doesn't reply she must really not want to chat so I would back off for a little while and try again.

Try both methods. Leave a message if she doesn't answer the phone. She needs to know you tried even if she doesn't want to talk right now. She needs to know you support her, even in silence from a great distance.

if she loved you then she would reply to your emails, so forget about this woman and find someone else.
don't email her, but calling her may be a good idea just to see if she got your emails and find out why she has'nt responded to your emails and see what she says, but if she makes the same excuse about her dad then forget about it, move on. sorry dude.

Just say, "I want you to know that I'm thinking of you and your family. I don't want you to feel bad about being cared for."

Don't say much more, maybe ask how her dad is. It is a big gesture that will let her know that you are serious. Even if she doesn't call or write she will know it.

IF YOU LOVE HER THEN YOU WOULD CONTACT HER NOW.. Dont be stupid man. this is when your girl needs you the most and by you not supporting her you are pushing her away.
So get onto the phone and call her and let her know that you are there...
