Does anyone know if it is illegal/unconstitutional for a city council in Alabama to vote to tax businesses outside the city limits that are still within police jurisdiction? If so, can you site your source? This answer will literally tell me if they are going to put me out of business! HELP! Thanks!

Yes it is legal. That happened in Smiths Station, a suburb (and in a different COUNTY) of Phenix City.

Given the serious consequences, you need to consult with a local attorney. Laws are rarely yes/no issues.

No one can give anyone valid, specific "legal advice" over the Internet.

Consult a local attorney.
