there are 6 ways to get to staten island, ferry, bayonne bridge, goethals bridge, outerbridge crossing, verrazzano bridfe or a private boat.

Ferry, private boats, city busses, express busses, car, cab, and I'm sure there are more.

There are at least 2 bridges that connect Staten Island--if I remember correctly, one goes to Jersey--the other to Brooklyn.
