HAHA no what happened was that Bret was jumping ship to the WCW and he wanted to retain the title belt because he didn't want to lose to the title in his home town of Canada. He then explained that he was going to throw the title in the garbage on WCW the next night. Vince however, wanted the title to stay in WWF/E and instructed both Shawn Michaels and Earl Hebner to make sure Shawn won the match. Which explains why Earl rung the bell when Bret didn't even submit. So the easy answer is Vince screwed Bret through Shawn and Earl but the long answer is Bret screwed Bret because he was too stubborn to let go of the title because of his pride. The easy answer is Vince, but we both know thats wrong. My guess is that woman champion who went first and threw her WWF belt into the trash can, after signing with WCW, to insult Vince and WWF. Sorry do not remember her name. Vince just could not have Bret do the same, so had to be sure the belt left his hands, rather then have a repeat with such a big star. I liked Bret, but agreed with Vince's actions, you must protect your business. Alyndra Blaze was her name. She screwed Bret.

The night before vince mcmahon had a meeting with HBK and bret hart saying that bret hart would win the title and vince would vacate it the night after. but during the match when the ref was "knocked out" vince told shawn to put bret in a sharpshooter, so he did. then vince ran over and rang the bell.

Vince told bret the finish was supposed to be michaels putting bret in the sharpshooter and reversing it into his sharpshooter for the win he talked with the ref earl hebner and he said nothing wrong was going to happen but wen shawn put the sharpshooter on bret earl rang the bell and shawn acted like nothing happened and so did vince
