What made that teacher memorable to you? I always liked the teachers that told me real stories about their lives and funny things that had happened.

They came across as real people - not as someone who just provided knowledge on a daily basis - they really let their students get to know them...

My favorite teachers were those that taught something that was applicable to my life and experience... not just something I had to learn to pass some ridiculous test. A few of my other favorite teachers are actually teachers I despised with all my being while in school. Once I moved on to a higher grade or even after finishing both hs and college, I realized how great those despised teachers really were and that it was worth their efforts to be more strict or difficult than other teachers. Those were the teachers I learned from the most.

My favorite teacher (Maria Luise Auer) never teached in my class but in my school, but she impressed me very much:
for example: we were visiting an ice cave during night (it was cold, slippery and we had torches to see something), I was very anxious, she took my hand and brought me savely to the cave; she showed me how to make a bed properly; during the breaks in school she always had time for me, we talked; and while other pupils wrote the names of bands, actors et cetera on their school stuff, I wrote her name on mine;
When she went to theater with her class I could accompany them;
Now, I´m almost 9 years off this school, I can call her by her first name, we are still happy when we see each other,...
I never saw her as a "teacher", I always saw her as my best friend although I have very many respect of her.
We know each other for almost 12 years now and there is not much about what I´m more happy like about this!!

She is really the cutest and greatest teacher in the whole world and she is also like an older sister for me

Ms. Baz...4th grade I think. She was odd and interesting and had a tea party for us! Also, she had us do a musical.

Mrs. Dinsmore the art teacher from my high school. I will probably end up just like her. Taught me how to draw, be patient with myself, and love art again.

And Mrs. Trousdale from Clark College in Washington state. An art teacher who absolutly made a difference in my college life. Taught art history like it was a fun soap opera of the past.

All three have equal importance to me.

My favourite teacher was one who actually challenged me and the other smarter students of the class and didn't just pander to the lowest common denominator. He didn't hold the entire class back because of a couple of really bad students like many of my other teachers did.

I had plenty of entertaining and "fun" teachers but they were just amusing people, not good teachers.

My first grade teacher, Mrs. Moon. Her favorite song was my favorite song at that time (Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head by BJ Thomas) and the best part.....she always let me wear her high heeled shoes in class.

Mrs. Allen, she believed in me when no one else did. Now I'm the Registered Nurse that I always wanted to be. She was my Home Economics teacher in high school.

My U.S. history teacher in high school made U.S. history really interesting. He was the best teacher I ever had. My French teacher in college was also good. She made the class fun by asking us personal questions about ourselves in French.

Mr. D. in college. He made the class relevant to us and took his teaching one step beyond. He was a friend and a counselor, a confidante.

Ms. Jeffries always was nice but still kept it real. She did not sugar coat things and if you asked for her opinion you got it. she understood that her opinion did not have to be my opinion and always kept an open mind.
