I agree about The Da Vinci Code.
When I read The Da Vinci Code, I couldn't see what the big deal was. I thought the characters inner monologues were obvious and that Sophie was always conveniently smart enough to figure puzzles out because of her childhood. I felt she was put on too high a pedestal. The characters seemed to be brought to life exceptionally well in the movie. The balance was superb and I thought they really did some beautiful things with it. I remember reading the book and thinking it would be a better movie, and it was.
I couldn't possibly pick a worst...not ever. Most all are completely bogus. Especially when they touch the classics. Bah...
I generally am a self-admitted snob about book-movies. They usually feel cheap and rushed and like Hollywood tactics were substituted for substance.

I think Chocolat ,Lord of the RIngs,First wives' club are better than the books they were based upon. But the movies based on Count of Montecristo were all a disappointment.Bourne identity and the harry potter books are ok.But no great shakes either.Timeline based on the book by Michael Crichton was also good.

The Godfather is of course quite good. The Rules of Attraction and American Psycho are as entertaining as the books, in my humble opinion. Oh yeah, and Fight Club is an awesome book to movie adaptation for sure!

I like Harry Potter and I also like Chronicles of Narnia although on the Chronicles of Narnia I think it should have started on The Magician's Nephew where the story began, it was still pretty good.

The Chronicles of Narnia is the only book-turned-movie that I wasn't disappointed in. I guess that makes it my favorite.
