If she just had her period and was through, and she had unprotected sex is it likely to get pregnant?

I checked webmd and found this:

Survival of the Fittest: Fertilization
Once inside the vagina, the semen immediately coagulates, for reasons not yet understood. Because the vagina is acidic, only about 10% of the sperm will survive the first 10 minutes inside the vagina. After about 20 minutes, the semen becomes fluid again, enabling the surviving sperm to swim up the reproductive tract. Here's where the cervical mucus enters the picture. When a portion of the surviving sperm reach the cervical mucus, they will find tiny strands of protein within it that will carry them toward the uterus. This protein is present only in midcycle mucus, which has an egg-white consistency. The mucus is a sign that ovulation has just taken place or will be taking place shortly. The woman's egg remains viable for about 12-24 hours; the sperm can live up to 48-72 hours. This creates a reproductive window of roughly four days.

My advice is to have protected sex or abstain from sex altogether if you do not want to get pregnant or get std's.

Excellent question! Sperm can live in a woman's body for up to six days — possibly seven. And, as long as the semen is still wet, the sperm can survive outside the body. If the semen has dried, been wiped off, or washed off, there are no longer any living sperm.

Pregnancy can happen any time semen spills on or near the vulva. While there are certain times during the month when a woman is more likely to become pregnant, a woman can become pregnant at any time.

Teens who are having sex need to make decisions about birth control. Condoms offer protection against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Hope this information helps!

I believe that the sperm only last for a few days. Also remember that just because you have your period does not mean that you are not pregnant. With my youngest child I had one period after becoming pregnant.
I would also like to take this opportunity to tell all that condoms don't always work. I got pregnant with my oldest child using a condom. Sad to say, but at 28 years old (dang that was a long time ago), I had no idea that those things had expiration dates - which apparently they mean it. I am not trying to preach , but thought that I would just inform everyone that condoms are not fool-proof.

It can live from 2-4 days. Usually 3 days, for it to be still affective. As for conceiving a boy, it depends on the sperm and the genes from the male you've conceived with. There is nothing you can do to decide the sex of the baby.

there is a very good possibility that she can get pregnant. sperm can live inside of a woman for up to 36 hours i think.

there is like a 5 minutes window of opportunity at the exactly end of a woman's cycle where it is very difficult for a woman to get pregnant. but basically....it can happen at any time.

your best bet is to go to a doctor and tell him/her that you just had unprotected sex. it is better to be safe than sorry.

and more importantly...ALWAYS USE PROTECTION!

Sperm lives for three days or so, regardless of where a woman is in her cycle. And unprotected sex can result in pregnancy anytime... it is more likely around ovulation, but ovulation can be undependable.
