well that is elementary my dear. It is George Bush's fault. He caused the hurricane to flood Mississippi and Louisiana where all the ketchup factories are and the hurricanes in Florida where the tomatoes are grown. This has slowed the process and caused the price to shoot through the roof!! All in a plot to make a fortune from his investments with Heinz (John Kerry's wife's fortune family). You did know that GW has a hotline to God to cause these things, right?

Why shouldn't ketchup cost more per gallon than gas? Milk does. As for the hot dog thing, you have all meat, all beef, chicken, turkey and tofu. The hybrid ones are made with beef, pork and chicken or turkey.

How long does a gallon of ketchup last? If a gallon of gas lasted as long no one would care about the price.

Its all economics. If we decided to use ketchup as fuel, we would make a hell of a lot more of it till the supply and demand for it where equal at a price less than the current cost of gas.

Well ketchup is a condiment not a necessity of life. 32 ounces of ketchup lasts about a month at my house and I do not put it on hotdogs because that's gross.

Your question should be the other way round...why is gas so much cheaper than ketchup.
If you step out of the USA, you'll find, gas is costly everywhere - much much more pricey than ketchup...except of course in countries like USA or Venezuela, where it is cheaper than mineral water or ketchup...due to populist policies of the governments.
