It's completely possible. There are some people who are born with an aptitude for it, but those people are few and far between. Most professional musicians aren't "born with it" per se, but work very hard and become better at what they do. These people will never be looked upon as the greatest musicians of our time, but a living they will make. Some people (Mozart, Beathoven, Lennon, Clapton, etc.) have undeniable God given abilities, but if you committ yourself to it, anything is possible.

Nobody "starts" being a good musician. It all depends on how much time you want to put into it. If you only play once or twice a week for 5 min. then no. If you have about an hour a day to practice and a lot of interest then maybe. Some people get it and some don't. Give it a shot, get off the computer and practice!!!

ANYONE can become a musician at any age. The key is whether or not one can be a good or above average....It's just like with anything else...sometimes one is born with some kind of skill or talent and sometimes one is not. One with talent may or may not be successful for any number of reasons and one without a talent may be successful as a result of being marketed well and etc.

Yes it is possible to become a good musicia even at 25. never give up! there are tons of 25 year old and older people that are in great bands and are great musicians! DON"T give in now! I am like ten years younger and i have hopes and dreams of one day becoming a great musician (rock band) one day. and i hope it happens too. I really want it and i don't think its like when a 6year old says "i want to be a singer when i grow up or a doctor." I know i am old enough to know what i want one day and how bad i want it. i don't wanna give up now. Now i really want to not give up cuz then all the people (family members) that laugh at what i wanna do one day will be amazed that i was true to my word. i don't think 25 is too old. as long as you have the motivation! GOOD LUCK!

some people have hidden talents that they have yet to discover, someone could very well be a musician at the age of 25, then again "musician" is a slightly controversial term

You can become a good musician at whatever age you want, it will just probably take longer as you get older.

Simple answer... yes, absolutely.
More appropriate answer... yes, absolutely.
All you need to do is learn to play a couple of chords on a guitar, learn how to beat a drum in time, or play a steady stream of 8th notes on a bass, and you ARE a musician. Never let anyone tell you otherwise. If you play music, you are a musician... that is the definition. Period.
As for being "good"... what do you consider "good"?
Johnny Ramone played straight eighth notes, and was as basic as any one guitar player could get. He never played anything that was intricate, or anything that any guitar player with 2 weeks experience couldn't jam on. Yet, he is one of the most influential guitar players to every walk the planet.
Steve Vai is, by almost all counts, one of the absolute best guitarists on the planet... and he got that way by practicing 10 hours a day every day as a child. At the age of 25, I highly doubt you have that kind of free time.
Realistically, only you can answer this question. You need to decide for yourself what it is you want as a musician. Do you want to just be able to play by yourself, or with a few friends, and jam? Do you want to be able to play out in a local band? Do you want to be one of the best local bands in the area? Do you want to headline the Garden? Why do you want to be a musician?
After you answer that question, decide what it is going to take for you to acheive that goal. Lessons would be a good thing, however are not a requirement. What are you willing to give up to accomplish that goal? Time watching TV to rehearsed? Time away from drinking with your buddies to rehearse? What is it you are silling to give up to achieve your goal of being a good musician? After you make these decisions... DO IT!!!!!!!!
As for needing to be born with it? That is utter nonsense. NO ONE is born a great musician. They ALL took a bit of talent, and worked at it very hard until they got to their particular level of acheivement. Billy Joel is one of the best piano players in the rock market... yet he had to practice hours upon hours and take lessons for many years to get that good.
One more bit of information:
I can make an electric bass sing, cry, yell in ecstacy, and beg for mercy... with very little formal training. I did, however, have my bass in my hands almost non-stop from the time I picked up my first bass in 1987. When I wasn't at work, or actively doing something where I could not play it, I had my bass in my hands. I played along with the CD's and tapes; I noodled and did scales while I was watching TV (unplugged, of course), IF the guys and I were hanging around my barracks room having a beer and shooting the bull, I had me bass in my hands; if I was playing D&D in my room, I had it with me. I jammed with other musicians, and learned from them. I wanted to be a rock star, and did whatever it took to get to be as good as the guys I was listening to on the radio until I finally got to where I was able to play anything I heard in my head.
Oh, btw... I was born in 1965... do the math.

practice makes perfect, but i do believe the better musicians are blessed with a gift, but i also believe that if there is a will there is a way. god created us all equal, right.

I think that being born with an ear for music is definitely a plus. You'll already have something to work with.

Yes, but start RIGHT NOW!!
if you are realistic and take lessons/study/practice everyday, yes
best to join a church band (!)
I know it seems awkward but the people will show you stuff and you will play regularly, so you will practice regularly!
its on you from there
