Game piracy has been in vogue especially in the Asian countries. We might be able to buy games cheaply but they are at times faulty and corrupted.

Game piracy is illegal and leads to higher game prices. Piracy can also lead to economic failure for smaller developpers. For a game like Half-Life 2 which sells several million copies a few thousand pirated copies are not a huge problem. However for a smaller budget title made by a smaller developer which may only sell ten or fifteen thousand copies piracy can be a devastating blow.

Piracy hurts everyone because the people who create the games you like enough to copy aren't getting paid. Once they stop getting paid, they go out of business and stop making games.

Even worse, many do not go out of business, but stick to "safe" game formulas that will make them money. Innovation is the cornerstone of what great games are. Companies are more willing to take a chance if they have some money in the coffers.

yes it should because the multimillion $ corperations dont earn enough as it is, neither do the managers or bosses of the gaming industries(please note:all of the people who take all answers and questions seriously i do believe that game piracy should be allowed, i was being sarcastic). Same goes for music and films

I don't think it should ever be legal, but I disagree with some of the extreme tactics that many software companies are resorting to in the name of copy protection these days. It really should be criminal to install secret "protection" software with a game that is designed to damage parts of your computer. I just see that as punishing the legitimate users who paid for it.

Yes, until the compinies that produce games, films and music start to lower the price of the products it will always go on. as for programming defeating software in, that just pushes more towards pirate software. I buy legitimate music cds, then cant play it in my car. how dumb is that.

Well it is on a decline now due to starforce and cd key verification.

Economically speaking, it should not be allowed since it forces a decline in demand causing prices to rise for consumers like us.
