How can a SATA drive be added to a system with a PATA drive?

There are converters out there, though I've never had to look for one. I'm sure of you search on pricewatch.com or google, you should find something. I know they exist.

Have you already purchased the drive? Obviously if you haven't, I hope you know that you have nothing to gain by doing so.

Also, you could add a PCI SATA card to your system to save a spot on your IDE channels. Realize that a PCI SATA card does not perform as well as a dedicated SATA port on a motherboard since it has to share bandwidth with other PCI devices.

Lots of options here.....need more info

If your motherboard already has both SATA and IDE drive connections, then both can types be run on the same machine. Im currently running 2 SATA drives (one with Windows Media Center Edition and one with Windows Vista) and an IDE drive with Windows XP Pro.

Check to see if your mob has sata connectors. Many newer boards have both. PCI SATA card if all else fails.
