Gravity pulls everything towards the center of the earth. Gravities forces are stronger than the centrifugal forces of the earth.
Gravity also helps to give us our equilibrium, which is why we always feel like we are facing up, even though we could be upside down in relationship to everything else in space.
Gravity is also the force that keeps us from falling off the earth when it spins upside down :)

The speed required to escape the Earth's gravity is 25,000 MPH. The Earth isn't turning fast enough to throw us off.
But if the moon were turning as fast as the Earth, then astronauts *might* be thrown off into space....
