If its disconnecting when someone is on the phone then i would blame the DSL modem or the wiring. Maby your phone is messing with the wireless signal, Theres really to many possible causes, Best thing to try is eliminate posibilities one by one. Shut everything off in the house except the modem, router and Computer....if that works, then try turning things on 1 at a time and testing, But you might wanna contact yur DSl provider if it happens when someone uses the phone...sounds like a faulty wire or hookup.

Quite possibly interference. 802.11g operates at 2.4 ghz many cordless phones also operate at 2.4ghz. How close (physically) to the router when you are accessing the internet? Walls and floors between you and the router will reduce signal strength. Your monitor in the taskbar should say what the signal strength is. Microwaves can also interfere.
Hope this helps.

Uninstall and reinstall, but see if your parents have a firewall up as well sometimes firewalls can be so tight that they do not have you set up for access to the router.
If you need a walk through... and the router if from linksys.... you have better luck going over Niagara Falls in a barrel, they barely speak English.

the internet and phone are using the same line
either get a seperate line for the internet or get a filter and attach it to the home phone line
so there can be interference

I support all the intelligent suggestions given above.
However, have you checked that everything is plugged correctly?
As well, do you live near any source of interference? If yes, call that wireless company - they should have known....
