~Read the book, if you can. It will probably answer all your questions. They didn't teached me nuttin bout dat stuff, but they taught me to read and think.

Well, to begin with they TEACH there is no such word in the English language as "TEACHED".

Besides that, the latest insanity is to drop all American History prior to the Civil War from the history books, so the next crop of functional illiterates to be graduated from High School, won't know about half of the history of this country.

Just what the book states, Contemporay history is history closer to the present in the past ten or twenty years. But some history texts are what's happening in past less than ten years. Some texts in high school sorry to say have not been updated since the cold war and the teacher addresses what's happened since. The sorry state of most high school history texts and classroom curriculum is real embrassing situation and should be badely revised and fixed soon. History is not a boring subject.

Iran Contra Scandal involving the Reagan administration 1986

The Fall of the Berlin Wall and the disintegration of the Warsaw Pact. 1989

Minnesota Twins win the World Series in 1986

Wars - current Iraq crisis, Gulf War, against Panama, against Granada, (anything since Viet Nam)
Oil Crises
Different presidents, their plans economically and militarily
The value of the dollar, the stock market
