Defragging is just taking all the data on your harddrive, and "bookending" them to one side to clear space on the shelf....in so many words.
Defragging has nothing to do with viruses, directly. in other words, the defragger will never find a virus. while the fragmentation could, in theory, have been CAUSED by a virus, I would simply finish the defrag, and then run a virusscan afterwards. check out the free AVG virus scan now available. its quite effective and popular.

It additionally tries to create greater areas of unfastened area using compaction to abate the return of fragmentation. some defragmenters additionally attempt to maintain smaller data interior of a single itemizing at the same time, as they are many times accessed in sequence.
