The answer depends primarily on the nature of the information. One can find news and current events on the internet to be every bit as trustworthy as the print media. On the other hand, if the information sought is highly technical, or scientific based, you better be careful in looking for reliable information on the internet. You would want to determine the source of the information before relying on it. Who provided the information? Is the author credible? Does he have a background from which you can assume that his information is true? Is the information peer-reviewed, such as one would find in a scholarly serial journal. Most non-fiction printed books are reviewed by publishers, and thus more reliable than information on the internet, which is by its nature self-published. Also, the tangible, lasting nature of books tends to render them more reliable than what is often "posted" on the internet. After all, the author of the internet material can remove it at any time.

As long as it comes from a truthful and reliable source, any news medium, including on the internet, will be as reliable as that of the printed medium. Bear in mind that some printed newspapers and television news channels have proven to be biased and untruthful, as have many internet sources been. Caveat emptor (buyer beware).

It depends on the internet site. A site whose reputation depends on providing credible and timely news will be as equally reliable as credible print media.

After you've decided if the print media has a bias to the left or right of the political spectrum, you'll usually get a fairly detailed account. You never know who you're getting your news or information from online.
