Having a baby takes a TREMENDOUS amount of energy...your body is telling you to get some rest. It also must be difficult not having your baby with you all the time. Sleep and relax and take care of your body - when your baby is able to come home you will both be happy and healthy!

Your energy was up for the event. Now that your baby is here, you feel relaxed and of course the baby does take energy even if you've had help thus far from the nursing staff, etc. I don't believe you have anything to worry about. It is also possible that you are experiencing a mild case of postpartum depression. Not to worry - this is normal. Keep caring family and friends in contact, if only by phone, so you won't feel lonely and like you are going through this by yourself. You didn't mention whether or not the baby's father is present - either way, keep a support person in contact with you. You will be fine. And don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

I also had a preemie and was able to sleep the whole night through for 3 months before he came home - but I was still always tired. The aftermath of the birth, the stress of the child being a preemie, the midnight pumping, the hormonal imbalance, the running to and from the hospital all contributed to my exaustion. You should try to rest during the day, eat well and drink alot of fluids..... Dont worry - it is normal and can last for a while. take it slow and enjoy your peace while you have it!

First of all, it's only been 3 days. Labor takes so much from your body and you need to build your strength up with rest. At first you were "really awake" due to the excitement and adrenaline but reality has set in. Having a premie can be very stressful because of uncertanties and the unexpectedness of delivery so it is very important that you talk to whomever, family, friends, God. You may also be suffering from post-pardum depression however minor or severe. Talk to the baby's doctor and let him know how you are feeling.

you need to get some rest. although you think that you are fine after giving birth, your body is still recovering from the pregnancy. your hormones are returning to normal, your body is returning to normal, ect. resting resting resting. everyone will tell you to sleep when your baby sleeps to be rested. being that you haven't brought your baby home yet is an extra stress on your recovery. your not thinking about yourself but your baby, and i'm not saying that as a negative or anything. you just need to slow down and realize that you too are recovering and need to take sometime to yourself.
you have a lot on your mind and relaxing isn't your top priority right now but you should take one afternoon and rest. take a bath and just sleep and rest. you will feel better.
good luck and hope you can bring your baby home soon, get some well deserved rest!!

Perfectly natural!! Keep taking your vitamins. It helps a little. Having a baby is stressful, ecspecially a premie!! the stress, and fear, worrying, running to a from the hospital, having quilt that you can't bring her home, It all takes a toll on you emotionally as well as physically. But it does get better!! My daughter only weighed 2lbs 10oz, it was the most stressful, tiring time of my life. Hang in there and take care of yourself!!! Your baby will be home with you before you know it, you have to rest up to be ready. Good Luck!!

yes it is. i had a preemie who was in NICU foe 2 weeks. after i had him i felt energised for the first week but the lethargy did kick in, along with tears and depression. its very normal. also the stress of not having her home and the knowledge of what is coming can be bothering you too. just get as much rest as you can and try and get all the help you can get! you will feel tired for the next few weeks. your body has been through an ordeal!!

Of course you're tired you just had a baby. Having a premature baby makes you more stressed out as well, which can make you tired.

Your hormones are still trying to catch up and get normal again, and you might still be having a little post-partum depression because of that. It can make you feel very tired. Get some sleep and get ready to bring that baby home. Good luck!!
