2.) keep talking about it for months like its gonna be sweet
3.) that night be all dressed up like your gonna go
4.) go to pick her up
5.) ring doorbell
6.) she opens it
this next one is crucial

the result of this plan will probably inspire some lyrics

hey man. theres not really any formula to it, but the best things tend to be the ones that arent forced. i've found that the problem most bands have lyrically are due to the fact that they're singing about something they havent experienced. i'm a guitar instructor and i've played in a lot of bands. i teach about 40 students (a lot of them are in bands now) a week, and i also do recordings (i have a studio in my house). a lot of the bands i record are kids that are 15-20 or so, and sometimes they're singing about stuff that's just so fake. if you've never been to iraq, or never really had your heart broken, or never really had issues with your dad, dont sing about it. you're just going to sound foolish. thats what most ppl do wrong. i'd recommend just playing some tunes and recording them. then let it play, and just sing. see what comes out and record it. just come up with a melody and see what words flow. then, take the overall idea of the words that worked, and rework it a little and write a few more that fit. i know a lot of guys that use this, and when i met steven tyler, my singer and i talked to him about it. he does the same thing a lot of the time. good luck man!

isn't there a more famous band called asphalt? Im not sayin you aren't famous im just trying to know if i know that band cuz i have heard of it somewhere and i don't know where from like maybe it's a local band around where i live.

I have to take the same route as hellion210. I have been a working musician since 1987, and have done the recording thing too many times, and have written too many songs to think about thema ll... and the ones that I was talking about things I didn't know were trash. (well, many of the others were also). The best ones were songs that came from inside.
Suggestion:
Start carrying around a notebook. It doesn't have to be huge, just a notebook, and when you think of a song title, a specific line, hear something interesting, see something interesting, experience something interesting, etc, jot it down. Later, when you have a couple of seconds free, start working on it.

Biggest piece of advice:
NEVER STOP TRYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck, Bro...
I hope all of these answers work for you.

I don't know what is the topics you always follow, but talking about heart breakings is usually a good topic, I play in a punk band so my songs are mostly about society, drugs and stuff like that, but when we need songs for other kinds of audiences we always write about broken hearts, i believe everyone has had a girl or a boy that has broken their heart, so that is pretty easy.

ok. first of all you need a title b/c thats the main thing and will be used a lot in the chorus. then you start off with the beginning kinda like an introduction to the topic of your song slowly building up into the chorus. Then in your chorus, you use the title in it and kinda talk about the title. After you have another part kinda like the middle of your song..going into detail about your topic, after that part is the chorus which will be the same. After the chorus is the bridge which leads up into another chorus, therefore ending your song, unless you want to add more... the bridge should just sum up the middle and the beginning but is very short...about 3 lines...
my suggestion is to study lyrics and kinda see the pattern
i write songs myself and use that method....i hope you find it useful..Good Luck!
oh and the topics should be about personal experiences like a bad relationship with a girl/boyfriend (its easier b/c then you know what your talking about)

i don't write mt bands music but my singer tends to take rage route and just play some good jams then forming a story around it it can add up for some countless hours of doing nothing

The best advice to give you is.... try taking a class on poetry. You will learn things like meter, and interesting ways to play with language such as euphemisms, oxymoron, etc.

well, nothing to say but it comes naturally. don't push yourself too hard. you won't get anything done by that.

write whatever words that comes to you when you feel like writing. trust me, it works!
