For the most part yes, as long as it is reasonable fresh. For thousands of years this was the only people drank it. Pasteurization extends the shelf life of milk substantially, making it safe to store and transport over distances.

If not, all mammals would be extinct!
I would walk into any well-run dairy and drink the milk before it is pasteurized. I would receive the added nutritional benefits from non-cooked proteins. I would still drink it after a week, properly handled and refrigerated. I would even add known beneficial bacteria to it (like lactobacillus acidophilus).
But milk is an excellent medium for breeding almost any bacteria, so without taking all those precautions, you're taking your chances.

It would be safe to drink unpasteurized milk if it is fresh. People do it all the time. The pasteurization process is done so that the milk can be stored, transported and sold to you at a store. Just something to think about... cow's milk is desinged for cows not humans. Try water instead.

Its as safe as leaving your pastuerized milk out for 24 hours on a warm day and then drinking it. Assuming it has not turned sour, the bacteria levels would be similar. Pastuerization is only heating the milk up to above 138 degree's to kill off all that extra bacteria. Heat the milk yourself if you're unsure of it.

okay.. don't make fun of me for growing up on a farm and having a dairy.. but we use to go get milk out of the tank after the cows were milked. believe it or not; cows udders are washed & then there are filters you HAVE to use that catch alot of what some people (who NEVER have been inside or know how it works) says in milk. yes it's okay but they do pasteruize it to so it's complete of kind of bacteria and more safe for you.
your probably going to get alot of "no's" to you question..

Many bacteria can grow, both good and bad. Your taking your chances when you do. But if you milked the cow, refridgerate it, know were it's been and how old it is it's fairly safe.

Sometimes it can be. If I where you, I wouldn't take the risk. Drinking unpasteruized milk can cause you to get very sick.

Not really. Tuberculosis for one. It killed a lot of people before pasteurization. I think also Leptospirosis, but it's been years since I've read up on that kind of thing.

sure - as long as it's fresh and from a reputible place...
We wouldn't have made it this far as a species if it wasn't safe!
