Because people often forget that accomplishing small things with greatness still lends to the air of greatness. People want to be huge and remembered. They think that being who or what they are not will lead to becoming historic. The greatest of people where being nothing but who they were, and standing for what they believed in...example, Rosa Parks.

Every great thing start from small thing, even great wall of china constructed from small and completed to become the world well known history. so never under estimate the contribution of small effort or small accomplishment as it can be the best accomplishment ever achieved in ones life.

Lao-Tzu said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." It takes great planning, great vision, and great will to accomplish great things. But the actual manner in which great things are typically accomplished is by completing many small steps that lead to that achievement. The pyramids were built by placing one stone in place at a time.

Probably because we´re used to seeing some grand gesture on TV, or hearing some fabulous speech which will end up changing the world. For us it seems ridiculous that something small like just saying hi, or smiling might actually make a difference. To change the big wide world you suspect you need an unique gesture, but in the end it just needs to change our world, it does not need to be unique or extremely big, it just needs to be touching. And a touch is a small thing...

This is a myth, most of those who accomplish great things set out to do so, only a lucky few get there by accident. Read your history man. The movers and shakers were people who weren't afraid to spend extra time and effort into making their dreams come true, if you sit back and wait for something good to happen to you chances are you're just waiting for death.

The sum of all actions are equal to the result of those actions, so yes I do suspect that. Great is immeasurable however, what is great in one persons eyes may be small in anothers. Greatness is, in my honest opinion, never accomplished by one person. A team of people is needed to create greatness. You may give a homeless person a sandwhich, but someone had to provide you a means to provide that sandwhich. Therefore it is never your act alone.
By small accomplishing more I believe you may mean a ripple effect, i.e. I give a friend $100 to pay his rent, the friend then gives $20 to someone who needs to buy groceries, the person who bought groceries pays a thruway toll for the person behind him/her. I definately believe in that!

I've never heard of accomplishing great things means doing great things. I think great things can range from small to large, but it doesn't matter on the size of work, because greatness can be as tiny as giving your last of something to someone. That's a great thing in my book.

Hollywood and TV have filled our heads with non-sense. Big things indeed start small. Become a boy scout leader. Become a big brother or big sister in your town. Give your time and talent to the poor children starving for your affirmation and praise.

Its not a matter of accomplishment (great or small) NOR a matter of doing or not doing...... It is the reason(s) behind it and/or the end result(s) which are important!!!

I agree with you on this one totally. Its the small things in life that I remember. The 40.00 a friend gave me when I had no groceries. My son telling me that I was his hero. It is the little things that are important. But a whole bunch of little things add up to one big positive life.
