Why did they win???
They played hard ... fought great battles against great teams ... they came out the victor this year.
Well see where come through on the draft in a week and we'll get a better picture if they'll be back next year, or if this is their shinning moment.

First off there is now a salary cap in the NHL so that has leveled the playing field a bit. Second it really comes down to how wisely you spend your money as opposed to how much you spend. Look at the Rangers. They have spent more money than just about everybody and they missed the playoffs 8 years in a row before this year. Good drafting and player development and judicious use of free agency are the keys to winning.

You want to know something, That is the great part of hockey. The stanley cup goes to the deserving, most hard working, best team. It doesnt have to go to a well money made team. If you are gonna be like that you dont need to watch this great sport. Except the facts.

You forget the Salary Cap put in place for one thing. Another is that it is the players that win. Their chemistry can be one of the most important things. By the Roster the Penguins should have at least made it to the playoffs. Problem is when you take that roster and turn it into HUMANS. They team didn't have a good chemistry. Carolina had a good team all around basically.
