Is it possible for a set of twins to have different daddys? A friend, well an old friend of mine is trying to say his ex wife had sex with someone else too and that only one of the kids is his. Is that even medically possible?

Yes, I just learned about this...If the woman released two eggs that month and had sex with two different men, it is possible.

Yep. There are two ways to get twins.

Either a fertilized egg ( aka BABY) splits....and you get identical twins....

OR.....

Mom releases two eggs....that is how you get a boy and a girl twin....or twins of the same gender who don't look all that much alike...no more than any other brother and sister....

So, theoretically, it is possible. But it would take rather extraordinary circumstances....Mom would have to have sex with two different men while the eggs are still 'good'...which is only a few days....and only one egg fertilized by the first man. If the eggs were released a few days apart, it would be more likely, because sperm don't live long. That is pretty unlikly, because a woman's body knows pretty quickly that she is pregnant, and goes from egg producing to baby supporting mode.

If he has doubts, he can take the children for paternity testing. DNA tests aren't cheap, but they can be done.

One warning....if he has always considered the child "his"- even if it isn't...he'll still pay child support...and it isn't fair for the child if he starts " I'm not your REAL father." That kind of thing can screw up a kid for life.

If he is a real man- a real father in the truest sense- it won't matter to him. He'll love both children as his own just as he did from the beginning.

Yep, can definitely happen. I remember hearing about this woman on the news years ago who had twins from different fathers. Of course they would be fraternal twins. It means that the woman had two eggs when ovulating and both were fertilized by two different men

Yep! Two eggs two types of sperm works just like if there was only one to begin with...however it depends on the type of twin. Fraternal means two eggs and it's entirely likely there could be two dads. But Identical means the egg split and only on type of sperm would have been able to get in. In that case it's either all or nothing.

That is medically possible, but very rare. The sex would have had to occur within minutes of each other, like a "train".
