You could make door knob hanging advertisements, and hire a neighborhood kid to put them on doors around town.
You could create signs and place them in public places. Be sure your city allows this, or get city approval for the signs.
Give some of you business clients a break in pricing if they put up a flier and some of your business cards at their business.
Do a referral service were maybe they get $10 off their next cleaning if they refer someone to you.
You could make magnetic signs and put them on your vehicles.
Sign up for local home shows and expos and hand out fliers.
You could do a mass mailing using the postal service.
You could get a list of business names from the local chamber of commerce and do an email blast to all the businesses.
You could do Internet advertising. Local chamber website, BBB, etc.
and my favorite.... SKY WRITING :)
Be sure to include prices or sample pricing, otherwise you will get many calls about that. Give the clients everything they need to know in as simple of a format as possible. Don't over do it on graphics and crazy bells and whistles. These things just confuse the look, and complicate the message getting across.
Go to any community events, and network with people. Chamber of Commerce meetings, city meetings, etc.
Try to figure a way to out do your competition. 24 Hour Cleaning? Same Day Service? Lowest Prices?
Try to figure out a way to service as many people as possible with as little effort as you can. Find out something that everyone needs and work at it.
Also there is a very disturbing cleaning idea that I have read about once before. If you have a good stomach ... you could clean up crime scenes... Families are the ones left to clean up a crime scene as horrible as that may sound. It requires special permits, and handling methods (bio waste) but it pays EXTREMELY well. Just a thought... A disturbing one at that...
Maybe you could offer more than just carpet cleaning... do blinds, and AC units, chimeney sweeping, etc. This will help you bring in more business and will let you see where there is a need in your city. Once you see the need, be the best you can be in that nitch.
Hope this helps you a little :)

Excellent customer service and work! If you're advertising already in tv, newspaper, and radio - then you need to let people know what makes your company better than anyone else's. Why should we come to your carpet cleaning business as opposed to the one down the street. For the most part - you all do the same thing....with one exception - one may have better customer service than the other - and that's what will set you apart.

what do u think about advertising and what u should want to advertise that is important, if u are selling the services i.e, carpet cleaning then u should have to advertise it by having more profeesional staff and having fine contacts with businesses and offices directly, then u should be able to devlop a 3-4 memeber team that will spread news and flyers through the houses near and in locality.
note the stakeholders of any services business are best advertisers, so avail them.
remember i am now providing u a tip for competieive advantage, u should do some intelligence about your competeitors and their prices, services etc. and then try to differentiate from them in proving a better deal to your customers, try to remove their customeres, use rumors and other propaganda techniques also. try to make customers of oother competieitors happy by any means u will find boost in your sales and marketing both.

A few ideas:
1) Flyers & Business Cards - Who are your customers & where do they shop (e.g. grocery, home improvement stores, etc)? Post flyers where your customers frequent.
2) Advertise Locally -- Craigslist, Yahoo! Local
3) Word of Mouth -- Offer a great service & people will talk.
4) Mailers -- Send out coupons, specials, etc.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

I would talk to local apartment buildings. If you do a good job you may obtain all their business which would keep you plenty busy. Also flyers don't work so don't waste your time. They just irritate people and take to long. I would maybe send coupons around your area, in the mail so someone will actually get it, then I would put an add in the paper.

the best way for you to advertise is to come clean my carpets for free and i'll tell everyone what a spectacular job you did!! word of mouth is the best advertisement you can ask anyone that has their own little business like that house cleaning or something...good luck with everything!!

Flyer's. Or you can hook up with another business. In my town for example a cell phone company offers you a free pizza if you open an account. In return the pizza place puts flyer's on all of their pizza boxes advertising for the cell phone company. At the end of every month the cell phone company pays for the pizzas. So both businesses are bringing in new customers.

Besides the flyer's you could also post on craigslist in your area they have a services section it's free and quite a few people read it at least in this area. Also I know you said no newspaper but the little pennysaver papers are also effective and not that expensive.

The newspaper, television & radio are all good b/c your ad can get people's attention. I would do a website. That would also get your business going. People like to talk, so let everyone you know as well.
