What do you look for in new music that makes you like it?

I listen to alot of new bands music and I wonder what other people look for when they choose to listen to a band for the first time.

Basically, if there is a semblance of musical talent, I can normally get into it. If it's kinda catchy, I'll listen. Can't say that I like a whole lot of screaming in songs. I mean if there is some screaming every once in a while, yeah sure, it's fine. It just annoys me when you can't even understand what the "singer" is saying 90% of the song. Image is something a lot of people look at, I don't really. I know a lot of online music stores like iTunes and Napster have a "if you like this then you might like (blank)" section for most albums that recommends albums that kinda sound like the ones you like. If friends recommend a band to me, I'll take a listen. I must say though, I really havn't been sucked into many new bands. I mainly listen to older stuff, and the only new bands I really like enough to buy entire albums are Coheed and Cambria, H.I.M, and Jack Johnson. I listen to every other kind of music, I just don't like it any of it enough to go out and buy the album.

Good theme, good words, Good beats, good thoughts, good singing. If the words of a song are critical or impossible to understand, it's garbage.

I like music that can makes me want to dance, I also like sad songs that make me think. I like hearing breakout artists too, its fun.

Originality....so many bands lack that these days!!!
Rap is not music, so there can be no originality, just more stupid black violence
