it calls for rain everyday we are there. Any words of wisdom from the people who live there? Its my kids first big trip and I would hate to not be able to do the theme parks and the beach because of rainy weather.

You will find that it can rain every day in Disney. Obivously, the bad news is that it rains, the good news is that it usually stops pretty quickly. You may be used to rain that lasts several hours or all day, that really doesn't happen in Disney. Usually it will rain for a short while, you can do some shopping or eat. By the time you are done, it usually clears up and is sunny.

It can be good though. Since you are going during a pretty hot season, it may feel good to get some cold rain on you. But, it also tends to clear the parks out a little. People that don't know the weather well tend to leave the parks, thinking it will rain for a while. So it may give you a short period with shorter lines and such.

One big thing to remember, try to avoid DisneyQuest whenever it rains. It is almost always busy inside, but since it is an indoor attraction, it is packed when it rains.

Have a great trip!

I'm going on the 27th and I have been eyeing the forecast as well. As many other people have said, it does rain practically everyday in the summertime (or at least it feels like it) but its only very short bursts of rain (anywhere from 5min - 1hr is normal) and usually only once a day.

The good thing about the rain is that it does cool off the day drastically and there will be times when the rain is a godsend because it is sooooo hot and humid. It can also free up some of the lines for some of the rides for those daring enough to stay outside during the rain. Most people tend to scatter indoors during rainstorms but I usually take the time to run to my favorite ride where the line is almost always guaranteed to be short if not non-existent and wait it out. This is also good cuz while people are finishing up their meals that they gathered at the beginning of the rainstorm, I am working my way around the park with short lines.

The bad thing obviously is that it is rain. You can't really do anything about it and it does what it wants. Be sure to wear clothes that can take some weathering and will dry quickly (i.e. stay away from cotton). Pack plenty of socks and bring an extra pair to the parks. Also, pack a very small travel umbrella or ponchos for everyone. I recommend bringing your own ponchos and NOT purchasing ones in the park as they are a bit costly and everyone will be sporting the same bright yellow and/or white ponchos with mickey on the back. This is not good when you are trying to find your kids or other travel mates in the crowd. I brought a blue one from walmart and I seemed to be the only one. Never lost my travel mates though!

My final suggestion is that if there just seems to be no letting up with the weather, explore other options in Central Florida. If you are confined to Disney property, head to Epcot where many of the shows, rides (and lines) are indoors. Or try Disney Quest in Downtown Disney which is a 5 story interactive video arcade/amusement park. You could also check out a movie at the Disney Cineplex also in Downtown Disney. If you can get away, try some of the fun places on I-Drive like WonderWorks, or the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum. It's only a 15 min car ride.

Anyways, I hope that helps and I'm crossing my fingers for great weather for the both of us! Enjoy!!

go anyway, many attractions are indoors! Not only that , the crowds tend to leave when it rains so you could almost have the parks to yourselves. (Been there, done that, going back!)

Also, the best time to take in the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in Animal Kingdom is when there are clouds or light rain. Many more animals are out roaming the savannah, and they are more active. On hot, sunny days they tend to stay under the trees (for the shade) and they are not as up close.

Enjoy the trip, whatever the whether!!! Just if there are any hurricane notices take heed. Disney is well planned to take care of guests in emergency. So Hakun Matata

It's rare for it to rain ALL day in Orlando so you can still enjoy the parks regardless of the rain. There's indoor activities at most parks which help while you wait out the rain.

It always rains there. It rained the whole time we first went there, but it let up enough to enjoy. As kids, we didn't care it was raining and there are things to do inside the parks, even rides. It will clear up for at least a while here and there.

Get excited and enjoy!
