no. it would be nice if it could happen, but deception is the way of the world.

We live in a society where appearance, financial status, and looks matter. The media depicts the "perfect people", people we all want to be like because they have it all. Since we have such perfect people we need to compare with, we feel we need to "top" others so we can be closer to those being perfect and flawless like the celebrities and role models in the media. We lie because it's easier than actually doing, or because it sounds more interesting than what really happened. People can't have a good conversation anymore, unless they have "cool" stories to share.
In our world, if we don't look and sound good, we mean nothing.

That's impossible. If it does happen, it takes a miracle!
The reason why we do it is out of fear. We all yearn to be accepted one way or another.
As long as society place us in boxes with standards that we CAN'T live up to... these "lies" will continue.
Good point would be the tag line for the movie, The Talented Mr. Ripley, it's better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody...

No. It is a part of the human condition. Insecurity makes people lie. Case in point...my husband was out of work for 6 months. He couldn't find a job but couldn't admit to others that he didn't have one. He lied to his family the whole time because he was so insecure about his wife being the provider. As long as there is insecurity in the world there will be lying.

Most people tell lies to avoid consequences and not to necessarily look better----if I tell myself this ice cream wont hurt my diet then i can also lie and tell myself i dont need to walk that extra mile---its part of a coping system we have deployed for years--often times, people lie and feel worse about themselves and then need to repeat the negative behavior with a new lie---its a no win situation---we were socialized to lie---so people wont stop doing it until that socialization process comes to an end--point---Did your parents ever tell you when your teacher says do you like my new outfit etc you should say NO, it looks terrible----unless of course you are a pyschopath and then you might be brutally honest with others among other things

i can't say i haven't ever lied to make myself seem more interesting or something but as i got older now i don't care about looking better now i just try to be myself cuz i don't care what others think of me. cuz what it all comes down to is you and yourself. cuz if you lie to make friends its a waste of time cuz they will get to no you enough to tell that that one time you told them something they will find out it was a lie. so it's not worth it to lie to make yourself better. but like i said i can't say i haven't lied to make me seem more interesting. but now i've decicded they like you better when your not lying. but their will always be someone out there who either never learns to not lie or they just won't care cuz at that second in time they wanna look good. so to answer your question i wish people would stop lying but i can't promise everyone will. but that would be a lot better for the world if we all stopped don't you think?

Not as long as they think it works.
Personally, I love to call people out on their lies. I try to do it in a way that doesn't make me look like a jerk. You know like I'm confused about why they are saying that... ha ha fun, fun
