You mean speedo's? What, haven't you noticed that competitive swimmers and divers in the U.S. wear them too? And Speedo's aren't just popular for non-competitive swimmers in France; they're popular all over Europe, South America, and Australia. Americans are pretty much the only ones who wear those big, baggy swim trunks that are impossible to swim in, perhaps because Americans are fatter than everyone else and have more to hide.
Geez, try to sound like less of a judgmental ignoramus, will you? I don't particularly find a pair of tight Speedo's on a fat guy with pubes sticking out very attractive, either. But the French are not the only ones who favor them.
