I am doing an ethics brochure for school and I need to know the positive and negative aspects of someone having an abortion. I don;t like them so I need help.

A young couple can ruin their plans for further education, etc. by having children too young - and a female body can be spared the damage caused by having a pregnancy too young.

Before a woman even knows she is pregnant all of the organs of the baby are formed. He/she has a beating heart and lungs liver and kidneys eyes...everything! There have been studies that prove that in a early abortion ( 6-8 weeks) the baby can feel it and tries to get away. There can also be long term health (medical and mental) effects on the woman. Most of the time women dont know they are pregnant till 6-8 weeks...the baby can move! I cant tell you any positive aspects cause there are none. I only think abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and the mother dying if continuing with pregnancy. I also think it should be limited to hospitals only and not be done in clinics.

Positive Effects:
- If the women was under physical threat from the pregnancy and it was terminated to save the life of the bearer(Mother), then the life of the more able, and already living has been saved.
- If the child was going to be born with severe mental disabilities that would prevent the family from being able to pay for it, or handle the expense(not only financial) of having a special needs child.
- Rape victims.
- Birth deficiencies that would interfere with the childs physical health.
- Population control.
Negitive Effects:
- It's destroying a child that could be.
- When the mother has an abortion, she experiences long periods of bleeding. Similar to the menstrual cycle, but weeks.
- It sometimes invovles mental/emotional disturbance, damage.
- It incites that if you have a baby and no longer want to take it to terms - just get rid of it.

Call me cruel for any of my listings, but those are listings from a completly unbiast stance.

There are NO postive aspects of abortion. NONE. ZIP. ZERO.

Not even for rape. Since when do we kill children for the crimes of their fathers?? I have a friend who became pregnant from a rape. It's rare, but it happens. Her son is now 18 and really awesome....and a sought out speaker against abortion for retreats and conferences!

There are plenty of negatives.

We'll start with the immediate effects....posible infections that could lead to sterility...and let's not forget, the immediate emotional consequences from deliberately ending your child's life.

Women who have abortions are more likely to:

-Suffer miscarriages in future pregnancies
-have unexplained infertility
-suffer severe depression
-get breast cancer
-get pelvic inflammatory disease
-have marriages that fail-even if they are single at the time of the abortion

A woman will never forget that she allowed the murder of her child....we can't allow people to continue to make money off these murders! It is no different than when the Nazis decided that the Jews were less than human and undeserving of life.

Women who have been victims of abortion- and that's what they are- victims....can receive free help through Rachel's Vineyard programs in their area. Churches will help you find them. They are a program of the Catholic Church, other churches may have similar.

The ultimate NEGATIVE of abortion? Over half the people who enter an abortion clinic will end up DEAD.

You definitely need to do what the topic asks. Don't ignore directions. I'm sure you can find some arguments that people routinely use even if you don't agree with them. You need to be able to state the two sides in an objective way. Give the arguments in a way that no one could guess what you really believe. If someone asks, then tell them, but it seems the project is to help you understand how many different viewpoints there are in various subjects.

I did an essay to and heres some points I made:

Cons((reasons against abortion))
*You have to live with your decision for the rest of your life.
*you may feel a sense of loss and become depressed.
*It may dissapoint your family and bf.
*Religious reasons
*People consider a baby a blessing.
*You need to take responsiblites for your actions.



Pros-((for abortion))
*you prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
*you may not be financially stable.
*you may not be emotionally or physically stable.
*you could be a rape-victim and do not want a product of rape.

those are just some
its a really touchy subject.

You'll have to register if you haven't already. There are excellent sources there.
Here is what I've come up with:

Negative
-It's killing a human being
-It's morally wrong

Positive
-Perhaps the mother is very young and having a child would be bad for the mother and the child
-The baby is a product of a rape or incest

ummm lets see postive affects of an abortion?
- less kids will be put in adoption agency's which are unable to care for them
- less kids will be born into families that don't have enough money to give them a sufficient beggining to life
- if a teenager accidentally gets pregnant and doesnt want her parents to know, she can get rid of the baby
- if a rape victim gets pregnant, she is not required to give up teh kid for adoption or keep it
- if someone who is unfit to have a kid (i.e. a drug addict or alcholic) becomes pregnant, then she can have an abortion to avoid having a child with birth defects
- if you get a ultra sound and there is a birth defect with the kid, you are able to abort it to save it pain and suffering

State your opinion you do not believe there are any positive aspects of having an abortion. If that isn't what they wanted they shouldn't ask!!!!!
