Thanks Chirpy. I was wondering about that, but would the police really do anything about it either?
My daughter was slapped really, really hard by another girl & nothing was done about it. I've gone to the school district, but everyone (the other teachers and other parents) think I'm over reacting. I need to know that I'm not, and what should I do to really push the issue.

Stevenextreme, why don't you stop being so ignorant, if you can't answer the question than don't. The last thing children need nowadays is encouragement for more violence. Seriously, grow up.

If you have contacted the school district, and have spoken to the school board members, then I suggest you contact your state's Office of the Superintendent of Instruction and tell them that you will be having your lawyer contact them if they do not take action. Bullying is a very serious issue and many states have strict laws against it. Do not let this go unaddressed.

If a student reports that he/she was assaulted the first thing to do is talk to the teacher, then the counselor (if one is available), and so on up through the principal. If that doesn't help, call the school board. Before calling anyone though, make sure you have the facts about what happened. As a teacher, I can tell you it is difficult to keep up with sometimes hundreds of children at a time. Hope this helps.

This actually happened to my little sister....she was hit by this kid at school and they teachers didn't do anything about it...so my mum put her in the car, drove her right back to the school, and complained to the principal, who immediately had the police called and filed a police report...against this 8 year old kid. I don't think that the kid got more than a slap on the hand for it, but I think he got scared and has stopped going aroudn bullying people

I would march my happy self into that principle's office and DEMAND something be done. I would not leave until I was reassured that steps would be taken. NO CHILD should get away with that.. and NO CHILD should have to put up with it. School is a place where children SHOULD feel safe.. and it is up to us as parents to make certain the administration holds up it's end of that requirement.

It happens all the time! Just this past year my son, who is 12 takes a trip to the restroom, while he is in there another kid that picks on my son regularly, punched my boy in the gut. Just as my boy shoved the other boy away. a teacher walks in and saw my boy shove the other. My boy is the one in trouble, and given I.S.S. Which is a class room in another building. I spoke with the principle and got no where. So, now I tell my boy to fight, but don't start the fight. He is going to get in trouble anyway! I want him to defend himself, not to be a bully.

I say keep trying to talk to the teacher, and get the principal and social worker involved. If not then bring the police into it. If you have to go after the school and that girls family then do so.

Sadly enough, this happens in every school in every town. My child has been thru this at the schools he attended until the school he attends now. My suggestion would be to make it a point to the school your child attends that this behavior will not be tolerated by yourself nor your child. Every child has the right to a safe environment at school, make sure your child recieves just this. Best of luck!

take my kids in the middle of the night on a weekend and toilet paper that kids' house. if he hits him again, go back with the toilet paper and maybe some eggs. well, if the school didn't do anything about it, sometimes that kids' parents might not care either. so you resort to things like this. we have done it before.
