Alot of retarded answers from retarded people. Both of these cars get very good gas mileage and are well built machines. But even a 10 year old corvette would be a better buy as you could get it for half the price and use the rest to make it even faster. The new Corvette outperforms, outhandles and gets better gas mileage than a '96 NSX. There is nothing wrong with the NSX, it is a beautiful car, but a new corvette would own it. The 'cookie cutter' car as you call it, offers alot of performance for very little money.

1996 NSX
Miles Per Gallon: 17/24 mpg
Curb Weight: 3066 lbs
Layout: Mid-Engine/RWD
Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
Engine
Type: V6
Displacement: 3179 cc
Horsepower: 290 bhp @ 7100 rpm
Torque: 224 lb-ft @ 5500 rpm
Redline: 8000 rpm
Performance
0-60 mph: 4.9 sec
0-100 mph: 11.7 sec
Quarter Mile: 13.5 sec @ 108 mph
Skidpad: .89g
Top Speed: 168 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph: 123 ft
Slalom Speed: 63.0 mph

"Hand-built craftsmanship"? Honey, I love the NSX as much as the next person, but it's no Lamborghini and never was. They're less rare than you think, and less well constructed than you think. And they never were the styling ground-breaker the Corvette was.

The NSX is a nice car. So is the Corvette. But I wouldn't purchase either one; I'd gladly sign my money on another Ferrari 308, because that's real hand-built craftsmanship...the pedigreed Maranello way.

Buy the Corvette, a 10 year old car is going to be wore out no matter what it is; plus the Chevy will be worth more in 20 years that it is now if taken care of.

corvette all the way, You cant beat the the engine, there's more technology put into designing the head for the new LS7 found in the zo6 model than the entire engine for the nsx, chevy actually put together a car that is crazy fast for the price. plus warrenty and it outhandles the NSX and gets better fuel milage

First off, a new vett costs more that 45k. Unless you have a way with sales people that nobody else has. But if you can get an 06 vett for 45 then do it.

This might sound silly but I can't buy any used if I can get something new for that same price. If I'm going to spend $45,000 bucks you better believe I'm driving off in something BRAND new.

I would go with a Lotus Elise, but to be honest with you, if you have access to an NSX for 45K, I'd buy it. Cost me 125K new!
