Nope- I do not eat expired foods...unless it's at a restaurant and I don't know!!! It grosses me out....when in doubt, throw it out. I rather not take my chances!

Just because the expiration date has come and gone does not mean that the packaged food is "bad" or "unhealthy" to eat. Expiration dates provide you with a suggested time frame in which to consume a product. Have you never noticed that some milk goes "bad" before the expiration date and some milk won't go "bad" until a week or two after? It depends on when and how the packaged food was prepared and when, where, and how it is stored.
So, yes, I do consume some food products after the expiration date has passed.

Foods that have reached their expiration dates are generally still good to eat. If they have been maintained in the correct conditions and the packaging has not lost its integrity. The main thing that changes with the expiration date is the taste, and the depletion of some of its vitamins and minerals. Usually there is a built in level or safety level for efficacy of foods and their expiration dates.

I use soured milk in biscuits, just as people have been doing for centuries. Old cheese gets rinsed off and used in mac and cheese. Bread makes bread crumbs, bread pudding and meatloaf . Canned goods are okay if not leaking or bulging. Frozen stuff lasts a long time. I don't let meat expire.

I do not eat expired foods--even though there is that "one week" guarantee for some products.

I take you at your word that it's JUST expired - not 'Animal House' expired. I use my eyes, my nose and my common sense. It is a different issue when the cheese or bread is yesterdays date, and when the fish or chicken is WAAAAY too old. (the nose knows that one!) For some items, yogurt, some soy products, they last longer.

Stay away from animal products if expired, but I would not worry about plant products if still taste OK. .
