underwear is for a guy to wear with partial reason for hygine. it is also for a purpose to prevent the pubic hair from being caught in the pants or jeans's zippers. the other reason is to give support to the testicles.an extra layer for hygine is the most valuable purpose.

I believe underware were invented to keep your clothes cleaner longer, of course for women they are nice so that nothing shows in a dress. I believe now they are mostly worn simply because thats what most people feel comfortable in.
