I've been to 20 states and Washington, DC, (TX, AR, LA, TN, KY, WV, VA, IN, IL, OH, MO, KS, MS, AL, GA, FL, MD, NJ, PA, NY) so I'll admit I'm not well traveled. I've heard good and bad things about every place--and truth is, that rule is true. In my experience...

Best:
Texas, Alabama, Mississippi

Worst:
Kentucky, Ohio, Florida

My goal is to visit all 50 states to develop a more mature and intelligent opinion of the states. However, my parents have been to every state east of the continental divide, and my dad has been to a few additional ones west of it, but their list is the same as mine in some ways, and different in others. Oh yeah, I live in KY.

KY: Rude, impatient people despite its claims of Southern hospitality.
TN: beautiful state. Not my top pick, but maybe top 5 or 6. Has much to offer.
MS, AL: beautiful states, love the rolling hills and friendly people
TX: Like a whole nother country!
IN, OH, IL: Flat, boring, with rude folks

I could go on but won't.

I'm originally from South Dakota, so I've been there and N.D., M.N., ID, MT, TX, CA, NV, SC, and Hawaii. I would say my best are MN, MT, TX, SC and Hawaii although Hawaii has many pros and cons. Reasons are: MN: not too big but has resources and I've always liked going there to the Mall of America when I lived in South Dakota.

MT: A BEAUTIFUL place to get away, enjoy nature and relax, etc.
TX: I live here now with my mom, and I wholeheartedly agree with the fact that it's like a whole 'nother country. I have never been to a place quite like Texas before. You have to learn the culture here lol, but it's great! Diverse place to bed.
SC: I love the weather and the nature is also great. I don't know about anyone else, but I also didn't notice hardly ANY mosquitoes, which, coming from South Dakota is quite enjoyable. The people seemed okay for the amount of time I was there anyway. The coast off of SC is amazing too.

Hawaii is amazingly beautiful as well and very cultural . . but you also have to remember it's a chain of islands and an 8 hr. flight anytime you want to visit the motherland for family, friends, or to travel somewhere else for a while. And their pineapple is amazing too!! GOSH!

Bad: The only one I can really think of that didn't do too much for me was Nevada. Sure it has Las Vegas but the weather is so darn harsh and it seems like crime is kind of bad there.

It would be easier for me to tell you what states I HAVE NOT been to or lived in. First of all, I prefer the East over the West. I love states that have 4 seasons, however, I don't like extreme cold, so that would exclude the Northeast. I also don't like extreme heat, so that would exclude the Southeast. Now, since I'm able to travel, I could live in the south in the winter and the North in the summer. No matter where I go, except the big cities, I find that most people are friendly.

Choosing where you want to live and what states you like is a very individual opinion, since each of us likes different things.

I love Maine, New Hampshire and parts of Connecticut, because I like the scenery, the people and the way of life.

I have been to every state and I live in Ohio. We are not rude or perhaps that is stereo typing like NY City?? The problem is when you travel, YOU have to be adaptable. I love warmer weather though so I would like to be more southern, but where I live we don't get a winter really anyway with snow.

If I remember wisely I actually have visited about twenty states, and probable better in case you count number using threw aspects of them. i'm effective that record will boost because i'm no longer performed residing, and there is continuously a probability i receives a probability to bypass to ones i have not considered in the previous. Canada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, California, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakoda, Iowa, Missouri, Mexico, Illinois., Indiana, ny, New Jersey. and intensely last yet no longer least Kentucky. i wager everywhere I actually were has had its united statesand downs. What position would not. I actually have bumped into impolite human beings in just about all of them and also made some quite effective friends. those I beloved the most at the same time as i replaced into youthful were California,Mexico, Canada Montana - took me 3 months to get used to, because i replaced right into a city female transferring to a rural area. large large difference between both. Dislike with the aid of trafic - California, New Jersey, and ny ( human beings walk like they have a dealth desire in N Jersey/York and that i replaced into in a limo the position the guy does no longer save searching threw his windshield ) Washington, and Oregon ( the freeways have ridges in them that in case your no longer careful you may turn a automobile) at the moment Kentucky I actually have not made a decission - roads suck right here. lol and its a brilliant large difference between all the different states I actually were to. I save telling human beings to end asking me if i love it right here, they could inquire from me in yet another 12 months or 2. (smiles) in the right i love all of them - only for the straightforward undeniable truth that no longer a lot of human beings can say they have traveled and considered aspects of the international that they might typically no longer see and that i have met distinctive diverse those who have touched my existence.

best Denver CO. I took a bus every where and they are on Sch up to the minute. I heard a driver tell a trainee to slow down he was 2 minutes ahead of Sch. I like the nice weather and a little bit away have the winter.
You just need enough plans so if one can not be done you have another plan and not get disappointed. I try to plan something for outside something inside in case of rain or weather is two hot.
at night the bus will go straight to your hotel for your safety but I never felt worried

Vermont- beautiful, peaceful, but so boring. very nice people, but a lot of hicks too. rural. nature is really enjoyable, EXCEPT in the winter...it is just TOO cold and too much snow.
Massachusetts (western, not boston)- nice people for the most part. the seasons are lovely, but still a little too much snow for my taste. the state is peppered with nice areas and really bad neighborhoods all in close proximity to each other.
Tennessee- great, friendly people. like you said, not the best, but really good place to live. a little too "southern" for me--- a lot of strict religious values and such. nice weather.
California (where I live now)- the best weather EVER, beautiful! where i live in the OC it is way suburban and so there is no natural beauty, but the cool thing about CA is that there are places really close that are nice such as the beach, mountains, etc. there is a lot to do here. a lot of snobby people and people constantly on the go with no free time so they are stressed and grumpy. traffic and driving is awful.

I love the Northwest. I'd love to live anywhere starting with Minnesota, the Dakotas, parts of Wyoming, and parts of Montana. I haven't been to the Northwestern coast, but I'm quite sure I'd fall in love with Washington and Oregon.
