That is definitely not the way to go. It would embolden Iranians who were once on the fence to back their radical leadership.

Also, keep in mind that the intelligence in that area is certainly not perfect. We have clear evidence of them hiding activites at Nuclear sites, but there's no guarantee that you know where they all are. Satellite photos can only tell you so much, and even operatives that have surely penetrated the country can only get so close.

The point of any strike would be to take out as much as possible at the same time. You're not going to teach the ruling regime any lessons. If anything, you would be playing right into their hands to win support from undecided Iranians and surrounding countries.

Wow more libs here too. Guess I should not be surprised.

But back to the question, should we 'teach them a lesson', the answer is simply no. When the time is right, as a last option we and/or Israel will take out ALL of their facilities. Till then we can bid our time. I have little concern for 'accidently' hitting wrong targets or hitting 'innocent' people. Most of you kids are to young to remember, but I watched these #&@^'s play soccer with the heads of American hostages when I was a kid. These people are not to be trusted.

If America did this-prepare for Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China, India and all the other countries with Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Weapons to join forces and counter-attack. Too bad America spent billions on an unnecessary war in Iraq searching for non-existent weapons of mass destruction. Those resources could have been spend finding Bin Laden.

Wow, a lot of good answers on this one. Cool!

Contrary to popular belief, America's interest in Iran isn't bombing. America's interest in Iran is to assure that they're not developing nuclear weapons.

From what I can gather, we have intel but we're not sure if it's accurate. So the US is working with the international community to see what's up. We are not threatening to use military action against Iran.

Besides, you'd never "teach them a lesson" by bombing their facilities. It simply would have the desired result.

The fact is, whether the world likes it or not, the U.S. is the big kid on the block. That makes us target #1 for every fanatic in the world, religious or not.

Therefore, it is necessary to manage any threats to our safety. If we truly believe that Iran is building nuclear weapons, then those weapons should be removed.

There will always be terrorist attacks. We must ensure that none of them have a chance to be nuclear attacks. A "surgical" strike on specific weapons facilities would certainly incite anger, and result in civilian casualties. But how many civilian causalties would result in a nuclear strike on ANY country? And besides, this radical government is already angry all the time.

I think they have already deduced that our cruise missiles give us the capability to do that. Doing so at this point would only lend legitimacy to some of the things they say about America.

Yes, allowing Iran to continue to develop nuclear technology into a weapons system, assuming they haven't already, is a huge concern to the world. Their neighboring muslim countries should be as concerned about this as we are. The prospect of a government that promotes and supports terrorism and the destruction of another nation(Israel) having nuclear weapons is horrifying.

Will destroying their nuclear facilities with a military strike dissuade them from producing nuclear weapons? Or, will it only convince them that "Might makes right" and then redouble their efforts to produce nuclear weapons?

Is it possible that they are only using this as a smokescreen and we do not know yet what they really want?

I do not know. However, I do think that allowing the present government, their president and the ayatollah, to have nuclear weapons is a HUGE mistake.

Muslims crashing airplanes into the World Trade Center didn't stop the US government from meddling into the affairs of governments in the Middle East. It only encouraged more of it. Why would the US crashing bombs into Iranian targets produce different results? It would more likely give the Iranians a reason to give nuclear technology and materials to terrorist in retaliation--assuming they haven't already.

The American already has two wars at the same time and it is very unwise to touch Iran.Do you know that The administration just finished the talk with North Korean and the situation around the world are not cool yet? The American has to deal with Bin Laden in which the military and CIA do not know where is he hiding now.Iran is not going to listen with force but if the American negotiate and use soft talk thing will go well with the Iranians.Let watch and see.I do urge the American to set her priority in order. Then thing will follow through.

No that would be stupid. The majority of Iranians hate there government and any outside provocation would turn these people against us and they would be more supportive of their current regime. Another point is that our intelligence is minimal and may be totally off as it was in regards to Iraq. We don't know where Iran is doing their research, and we may accidentally target a meaningless facility.

Ignorant Americans should understand that the world is changing. If America wants to regain its lost glory, it should mind its own business ans as a wise businessman must distribute perks and goodies, to keep people distracted. More you guys are gonna think or talk about teaching lessons to other people more dirt is gonna be thrown on you.
