There is no such thing as a "historical garbage dump".
All history (mythical and factual) contains value with regards to the human race.
And that value does not diminish just because of someones disinterest with its contents.

Well, Soren Kierkegaard believed that organized religion had become a corupt institution, but that man still should still embrace a personal relationship with God. Essentially, like many of the philosophers before him, he felt that God had to be the causation of the universe and therefore was also the author of the final destination of all its components, including man.
Essentially, you have to buy in on one of two theories, really: Causation (something will the universe to come into being) or the idea that the universe is the one eternal (the "Big Bang" being just a minutia in the hierarchy of a constant, perpetual cycle that defies physical limitations of time and conservation of energy).
For many, the idea of a "Prime Mover" in all of this points toward a world by design rather than by happenstance.

Historically, Jesus did exist. Whether or not he is the son of God is a matter of your personal faith. What he preached were good things and you can guide your life with his teachings and his words whether or not you believe he is really God. He claimed he is a prophet of God, and that means he was bringing the word of God to us. The hypocrisy of certain church leaders and church groups is caused by human failings and not following the path Jesus showed us. He is the light. Why would a minister being human or breaking a law of God or man mean that Jesus was not a good dude?
He was a good dude whoever he was.

Jesus is the original founder of Christianity, he's know mythological CRAP! He was here. The question is not rather or not he existed, but did what supposedly happen happen. I mean, how many half man, half horse people have you seen lately walking the streets of Nashville?

This is a heretitary weakness because people need to believe in something. I believe that if we could all learn to love one another and stop all of the hating in the world this need would disapear.

We all need something to hang on to when in desperation... What do you hang on to? It can be Jesus, Buda, Shiva or whatever. Human beings need to believe there is someone looking after them even if that someone is not seen...

I wrote this a couple years ago on Hypocrisy
Hypocrisy
(2003)
What is with our society today? Everyone turns to God only in times of trial and only when death plants its sting in us, or when we have sorrows or problems that are much too big for us to handle ourselves. Why is it that we only turn to God when we need Him? In doing so we have taught others that that is all it takes to be a Christian.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest excuses people use for not coming to church are "those hypocrites" that occupy the pews. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pointing fingers or calling names because I would have to include myself in that group of so-called hypocrites. More than once I've found myself doing some of the very things I previously condemned.
Does that make us hypocrites, or just stumbling Christians? I honestly don't have the answer for that. I guess it's all in how you see it. However, it just amazes me that people stay out of church because of hypocrites, but it doesn't keep them out of anything else. Almost any part of the business and financial world has its share of hypocrites--but the thought of profit doesn't stop people. Society is filled with them, yet people don't hesitate to attend parties and social functions. Marriage! As much as I hate to admit it, numerous marriages today are filled with hypocrites who vow faithfulness yet never live up to it. This is very true in dating as well, but people still date and marry.
Hell is filled with hypocrites--but look how many people go there a day instead of going to the one place that no hypocrite can ever go. Heaven. People continually choose a place full of the kind of people they want to avoid.
Wait....hang on. Let me step off my soapbox and get back to my point.
When people throw the label 'hypocrite' around, what are they looking at? Perhaps they're seeing the fence-straddlers, who confess to be saved but act like they're not. Perhaps they're seeing who an individual used to be, and not who they are now. Perhaps they're not even looking at anyone in the church--it is common for all Christians to be classified as hypocrites just because of a few bad ones.
I guess one part of the problem is that everyone wants to get saved, but very few people continue on in their relationship with Christ and ACT saved. Even worse, people use Christ as a way to justify their sins. They use 'human nature'--the sinful nature--as a way of saying they can't resist it. They tell themselves that it's okay to sin, as long as you ask for forgiveness. They don't see it as a reason not to sin. Someone gave their life--Someone was beaten mercilessly and then crucified on a cross because of our sin. Someone paid the ultimate price for us--that Someone was Jesus. And because of His love for us and Our Father's love for us, we are forgiven. It's not a way to justify our sins, we shouldn't say "Oh, it's already paid for," we should look at it as a reason to strive to live without sin.
It's hard to live a Christian life. It's hard to fight the urges to talk back to our parents or to try to have a relationship with a guy or girl and not cross any lines or behave in a manner that Christians should refrain from.
Being a Christian isn't easy. Certainly not as easy as making excuses.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thus Saith Our Lord
Ye call me Master and obey me not.
Ye call me Light and see me not.
Ye call me Way and walk me not.
Ye call me Life and desire me not.
Ye call me Wise and follow me not.
Ye call me Fair and love me not.
Ye call me Rich and ask me not.
Ye call me Eternal and seek me not.
Ye call me Gracious and trust me not.
Ye call me Noble and serve me not.
Ye call me Just and fear me not.
Ye call me Father and know me not.
If I condemn you, blame me not.
